Testing of Nightingale on Demand planned for Saturday evening

If you work at a centre where the Nightingale on Demand EMR (NOD) is up and running and are planning to work on Saturday night, please be aware of the following:

  • Between 9pm and midnight Nightingale will be running a number of tests on a new back-up system called "Business Continuity Environment --Nightingale on Demand (BCE-NOD).  During the 3- hour testing period, the system can only be used for review and reference. Although it will be possible to enter data on the system, the data  will not be saved. So in other words, DO NOT UPDATE OR EDIT INFORMATION during the testing period. To avoid confusion, the interface will have a clearly visible indicator communicating that testing is underway.

Once testing is completed during Sunday's early hours, NOD will return to normal functioning. Watch for an alert from Nightingale to confirm the system is back to normal and information can be safely inputted and saved.

Given the challenges some centres experienced during the early days of implementing NOD,  AOHC is pleased to recognize that Nightingale is taking steps to ensure the business of centres can continue in the event of primary and secondary datacenter failure.

Following this weekend's successful testing, the BCE-NOD will be fully operational.  It is the only back-up system of its kind currently operating in Ontario that is provided by an ASP EMR vendor.
