Ontario's Community Health Centres team up with Canadian Index of Wellbeing to address root causes of illness
With a generous grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), an agency of the Government of Ontario, the Association of Ontario Health Centres (AOHC) and its member centres will continue their partnership with the Canadian Index of Wellbeing (CIW), one of the world's leading instruments to measure societal progress.
The grant is designed to explore ways providers of frontline health and social services can increase their capacity to address the root causes of illness and shift their work upstream to keep people well. It will support Ontario's Community Health Centres (CHCs), and other community-governed Primary Health Care organizations, to build on previous early CIW work they have conducted over the past two years.
Over 20 of Ontario's Community Health Centres are now applying the CIW, a framework that uses eight quality of life domains and 64 indicator questions to measure health and wellbeing.

Report back from Community Health and Wellbeing Summer Institute
Yesterday was the first day of the Community Health and Wellbeing Summer Institute taking place at Lakehead University's Orillia Campus. Approximately 50 representatives from Ontario's community-governed primary health care centres and the Association of Ontario Health Centres gathered to unpack ways to enhance community health and wellbeing development practices and community initiatives.
