New AOHC policy on non insured
At the May meeting of the CHC/AHAC ED Network an AOHC policy statement on providing healthcare services to people who are non insured was endorsed. As part of our commitment to the health equity charter it was affirmed that all AOHC members will provide services to people who are non insured, strive to facilitate access to health insurance for them, and support access to care for non insured people across CHCs and the healthcare system. CHCs/AHACs will not deny access to their services for NI people and lack of resources will not be a reason to deny services.

Are you interested in learning more about best practices related to addressing substance use? Are you interested in building capacity amongst your nurses and other healthcare professionals in your organization and community to be able to identify and work with clients who use substances? Is your organization interested in learning more about integration of best practices?
If so, then the RNAO Addressing Substance Use Champion Workshop is for you. RNAO is seeking partner organizations from across Ontario to act as host sites for RNAO's free Addressing Substance Use Foundational (Level 1) and Advanced (Level 2) Best Practice Champions Workshops that will begin in fall 2014.

National Day of Action to Stop Cuts to Refugee Healthcare - Monday, June 16
Join healthcare workers and others at rallies across the country to tell Canadians the consequences of government cuts to refugee healthcare. In Ontario rallies will be held in Kitchener, Guelph, Hamilton, London, Mississauga, Kingston and Ottawa.

Minimum wage campaign continues
On June 18th at Noon the Workers Action Centre will rally outside the Ministry of Labour at 400 University Ave to continue the call for a $14/hour minimum wage that lifts workers above the poverty line.
