Ontario goes to the polls on June 12
As you have heard the opposition parties at Queens Park have pulled the plug on the Liberal's May 1st budget. It was a good news budget for AOHC members as it promised increased capital funding for our sector and a number of measures that benefit low income people.
For our analysis of the budget click here. The main themes - an Ontario Retirement Pension Plan, investment in transportation infrastructure, and a new Jobs and Prosperity Fund- will now become the platform for the Liberals.
AOHC has already shared material calling for a Health and Wellbeing Action Plan with the parties at Queens Park for their platforms. We are now moving into election mode and will send members an Election Toolkit for use in your communities.
Our main ask to Ontario's political parties regarding healthcare is for commitment to invest in a comprehensive network of Community Health and Wellbeing Centres (i.e. CHCs, AHACs, NPLCs and CFHTs) that will enable people in all parts of the province to go to one place in their community where they can access a wide range of health services and supports all delivered under one roof.
If you have questions related to the election and AOHC positions, please email jacquie@aohc.org.
