It's time to shine the spotlight on the work of our member centres. Nominations are now being accepted for the 2014 AOHC Awards. All members are welcome to submit a nomination for an eligible and deserving candidate/centre. The AOHC Awards celebrates the outstanding work of our member centres through innovation, community engagement, health equity and leadership. The awards will be handed out on the evening of June 3, 2014 at the Prevent More to Treat Less | Public Health and Primary Health Care conference banquet dinner. Registration is now open for the Prevent More to Treat Less | Public Health and Primary Health Care Together conference. This joint conference, taking place June 4 & 5 in Toronto, will replace AOHC's annual conference. Presenting associations are the Association of Local Public Health Agencies (alPHa) and the Association of Ontario Health Centres (AOHC) in collaboration with the Ontario Public Health Association, Association of Family Health Teams of Ontario, Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario, Ontario College of Family Physicians, Association of Ontario Midwives and Health Nexus. Public Health Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care are also contributing. This conference is a big collaborative effort. Public Health and Primary Health Care Together Awards
The Association of Local Public Health Agencies (alPHa) and AOHC, along with several of our conference partners, will be presenting three additional joint conference awards. These awards are in addition to the AOHC Awards and will be presented during the conference plenary sessions.
Nominations are now being accepted for the following joint awards:
- Champion for Public Health and Primary Health Care: awards an individual for significant leadership in advancing the relationship between Primary Health Care and Public Health at system, managerial and/or frontline levels.
- Innovation in Public Health and Primary Health Care Award: awards a policy, program or initiative for excellence in advancing collaborative practice between Public Health and Primary Health Care.
- Media Award: awards a journalist, body of work, or media outlet which has highlighted the importance of addressing the determinants of health to improve population health and advance health equity.
The deadline for joint award nominations is Monday, April 7, 2014.

AODA project survey
In 2013 the AOHC launched a year-long project focused on supporting its members with AODA resources and training. We held over 25 workshops/webinars/teleconference calls involving a cumulative total of 165 centres and more than 400 participants. This project ends next month and we would like to ask you a few questions about how helpful you found this project.
Deadline for responses is Friday, March 14.

Getting the Most out of Interprofessional Primary Health Care Teams report released
The Conference Board of Canada has released Getting the Most out of Interprofessional Primary Health Care Teams, the last publication of the research series Improving Primary Health Care Through Collaboration. The report offers recommendations to improve interprofessional primary care in Canada. Nine recommendations for action were developed to help government decision-makers, primary care organization and team leaders, care providers and patients get the most out of health care teams. The Physical Activity Resource Centre (PARC) has designed a short survey to capture high level information about the programs your organization leads or participates in with respect to the prevention of type 2 diabetes and/or obesity.
Please circulate this request to anyone working in your organization or other community agencies that offer such health promotion programs to adults, children and youth and specific populations.

Full scope of practice for RPNs and RNs survey
The Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario and the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario, with funding from the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care, are collaborating on a project to develop a toolkit for primary care on maximizing primary care registered nurses and registered practical nurses full scope of practice utilization.
If you are a clinical director, executive director, manager, physician, primary care nurse, team leader, or other health care professional in a primary care organization, you are invited to take part in this short survey.
The deadline to complete this survey is March 17, 2014.

Accessibility and Model of Health and Wellbeing Workshops
AOHC is offering its member centres the opportunity to participate in a free ½-day workshop exploring the relationship between our Model of Health and Wellbeing, the AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act), and ways to improve access and communication for clients with various disabilities.
