Shine a spotlight on oral health
Does your CHC/AHAC want to spread the message that the government should be expanding access to dental care for low income people?
Here's an idea developed by Davenport-Perth CHC and Bridges CHC: - Conduct a survey of your clients and community to find out what their needs are for affordable dental services
- Let your local media know
- Publish the results and share them with your MPP

Making Healthier Choices Act
Health Minister Deb Matthews introduced Bill 162 in the Legislature on February 24th, the Making Healthier Choices Act, which would mandate calorie labelling on restaurant menus as part of the government's Healthy Kids Strategy to combat childhood obesity. But the Bill does not go as far as Private Member's Bill 149 introduced by NDP Health Critic France Gélinas last week. It would require chain restaurants to provide menu information on calorie count and high sodium content of food.
AOHC has joined 40 groups and experts in endorsing a joint statement by the Centre for Science in the Public Interest which calls for both sodium and calorie level information to be provided on restaurant menus.
