Call for nominations for 2014 AOHC Awards
It's time to shine the spotlight on the outstanding work of our member centres. Nominations are now being accepted for the 2014 AOHC Awards. All members are welcome to submit a nomination for an eligible and deserving candidate/centre.
Award categories include:
- Joe Leonard Award
- Quality Improvement Award
- Health Equity Award
- Community Engagement Award
- Emerging Leader Award
- Innovator of the Year Award
The AOHC Awards celebrates the outstanding work of our member centres through innovation, community engagement, health equity and leadership. The awards will be handed out on the evening of June 3, 2014 at the Prevent More to Treat Less | Public Health and Primary Health Care conference banquet dinner.

Start a Mood Walks group for older adults
Are you interested in starting a walking group for older adults living with a mental illness? The Canadian Mental Health Association Ontario is hosting a free one-hour webinar on Friday, February 21, 2014, at 11 a.m., about how your organization can participate in the Mood Walks project.
The webinar is open to mental health service providers, consumer/survivor initiatives, hiking clubs, conservation areas, and other community organizations in Ontario.

Dignity for All meeting on health and poverty
In January Dignity for All held a meeting in Ottawa to develop recommendations for a federal poverty plan. "Health as a Right and a Public Good" was the fourth event where Dignity for All members and sector experts converge to work on the asks for a federal poverty plan, in preparation for the 2015 federal election. Representatives from Centretown CHC, Bridges CHC and AOHC represented the CHC sector.

Accessibility and Model of Health and Wellbeing Workshops
AOHC is offering its member centres the opportunity to participate in a free ½-day workshop exploring the relationship between our Model of Health and Wellbeing, the AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act), and ways to improve access and communication for clients with various disabilities.
