AOHC addresses Standing Committee on Social Policy:

LHIN Review

The Provincial Legislature's Standing Committee on Social Policy has embarked on a year long review of the Local Health System Integration Act. The Committee invited AOHC and other associations who represent Health Service Provider agencies that fall under LHINs' jurisdiction to deliver half hour presentations.

AOHC highlighted the potential (not yet realized) for the LHINs to move Ontario closer to our vision: the best possible health and wellbeing for everyone. We spotlighted key principles the LHINs should be applying more forcefully in order to maximize this potential and offered many detailed recommendations.

The Committee will be in place over the course of a year and AOHC hopes to have further opportunities to continue our dialogue with the committee and its members.

In January, the Committee plans to mount regional hearings. Click here for the Notice of Hearings.

Should you want to check in how the LHINs and Ministry have stated their case, please visit the Standing Committee on Social Policy: Local Health System Integration Act review.

Support pre-budget ask to Ontario government for housing supports

Pressure is building on the government to make permanent the $42 million provided to municipalities last year to ease the transition from the Ontario government decision to eliminate the Community Start-Up and Maintenance Benefit (CSUMB). This program had helped people receiving social assistance cover unexpected housing costs and remain housed.
