Health Promotion and Community Development
Over 80 Health Promoters and Community Developers from across Ontario attended the annual learning event held in Toronto on July 16 and 17. Participants reported that they found the event useful and requested more opportunities for networking, knowledge-sharing and dialogue.
A topic of great interest for follow-up is the Trillium Project and the development of standardized survey questions aligned with the Canadian Index of Wellbeing. The hope is for the survey to be used to discover outcomes of our work; such as changes in people's sense of community belonging.
The AOHC Education and Capacity Building team will support networking through monthly open call-in forums hosted by Health Promotion and Community Development staff who wish to participate.
Topics will come from those proposed from the recent learning event. If you have a topic of interest for discussion, or are interested in co-hosting an open call, please write to:
capacitybuilding@aohc.org with the subject heading: Peer to Peer Networking Call-in.
Presentations, handouts and program evaluation tools will be posted to the AOHC community members portal. Stay tuned for information about open call-in forums in the fall.

"Networking with colleagues from across Ontario was good. Having discussions like the one focused on the Canadian Index of Wellbeing (CIW) survey tool energized and renewed our perspectives and the value of the work we do."
"As a Health Promoter I was able to understand HP from a wholistic point of view."
"As a newcomer to this sector of healthcare it was a very useful two days. I have gained confidence in some of the things I am currently doing. I also found the speakers to be knowledgeable and inspiring."
