The Nova Scotia Federation of Community Health Centres is excited to announce that Community Health Centres (CHCs) from across the province are collaborating to advance strategies aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing for the province's children and youth.

Toronto Board of Health passes landmark decision

Demand all migrants receive health care irrespective of immigration status

 

In a landmark decision, the Toronto Board of Health joined a growing number of community organizations declaring its opposition to the denial of health services based on immigration status. The Board calls on the Ontario government to expand non-insured funding to community health centres, end the devastating three-month-wait for OHIP coverage for new residents, and put an end to discriminatory billing practices of hospitals who charge people without OHIP more for the same service.

Developed by the Child and Youth Health Network for Eastern Ontario, the Poverty Lens is an online tool designed to help organizations support children, youth and families living in poverty. North Lanark CHC was included in the working group that is responsible for developing this resource.
  

Sign the petition to Health Canada:  Do not open paid donor clinics

 

Canadian Doctors for Medicare is concerned about the federal government plan to secretly approve two for-profit blood plasma clinics in Ontario that would pay donors for their blood. It's not clear how paid-donor blood clinics will impact our voluntary blood system, or why we should allow a company to get blood plasma from Canadians and sell it to the highest bidder.

National day of action against refugee health cuts

 

On June 17th, health care workers are invited to events in Toronto, Kitchener, Hamilton, and Ottawa to protest cuts to refugee health coverage and tell the Federal Government that Canadians will stand up for the most vulnerable among us.
