Full report released to guide Ontario's Senior Strategy

Recommendations take comprehensive approach to promote health and wellbeing.

  

The report, entitled Living Longer, Living Well, was prepared by Dr. Samir Sinha who was appointed last year by the Minister Matthews to lead the development of a Seniors Strategy for Ontario.  In this full report, Dr. Sinha, goes into much greater detail than in his first "highlights" version released in January.

The Workers Action Centre and partners are launching the Campaign to Raise the Minimum Wage and calling for a province-wide day of action on March 21st coordinated in cities across Ontario.

 

Toronto rally will take place on Thursday, March 21 - 12pm at Ministry of Labour, 400 University Ave., Toronto

Does your CHC serve migrant farm workers?

 

If so you may be interested in articles prepared by the Windsor Essex CHC available in English and Spanish on issues like diabetes, sun safety, and loneliness. WECHC has now received a grant from the Windsor Essex Community Foundation to write more articles for a local migrant workers newsletter on bug bites, respiratory hygiene, repetitive strain injuries and bike safety.

AOHC seeking AODA workshop hosts

  

Starting this spring, AOHC will be coordinating regional and centre-specific workshops on the AODA for its members. We are now looking for centres to host these workshops.

 

The workshops are very low cost, $25+HST per person (up to 4 people), $100+HST (up to 10 people), and $150+HST for up to 30 people. If you host a regional session you are eligible to send 10 staff for free.

Confidential survey on LGBT issues

 

The AOHC LGBT Advisory Group reports to the AOHC Board on issues related to health equity for LGBT populations, an approach based on the health equity framework we all supported. In order to establish a baseline of information on member centres on LGBT issues, the Advisory Group is asking all member CHCs, AHACs, CFHTs and NPLCs, their management, staff, front-line service providers and board members to respond to this confidential survey by March 31th, 2013.

Meeting health needs of migrant farm workers - Hamilton - March 25

 

Nearly 40,000 migrant farmworkers (MFWs) come to Canada each year to work in the agriculture industry, the majority in Ontario. The health of these workers is strongly influenced by their experience of migration, their living and work environments once they arrive, and their access to health care and health and safety support.

Ce webinaire offert par Réseau CS, vous fournira d'un aperçu pratique de l'outil développé par le ministère de la Santé et des Soins de longue durée (MSSLD). Cet outil d'évaluation a été développé pour favoriser l'équité en matière de santé et réduire les disparités qui peuvent être évitées entre les différents groupes de population. Le EIES a été conçu pour aider les organismes à accroitre leur capacité d'améliorer plus efficacement la santé des populations les plus vulnérables et marginalisées qu'ils desservent. L'objectif ultime consiste à maximiser les impacts positifs et à réduire les impacts négatifs qui pourraient éventuellement approfondir les disparités en matière de santé.

Rencontre de réseautage via OTN pour les intervenants dans le domaine de la santé mentale!

 

Tel qu'annoncé dans le bulletin du 24 janvier 2012, le premier Colloque francophone des CSC a eu lieu le 15 novembre 2012 à Sudbury. Durant ce rassemblement, les intervenants dans le domaine de la santé mentale ont identifié plusieurs besoins, dont celui de créer un réseau d'échange d'information et de soutien. À cet effet une première rencontre de réseautage via OTN est planifiée le 26 mars 2013 de 9 h à 11 h.
