New report on child and family poverty
Ontario Campaign 2000 released the 2012 report, "Strengthening Families for Ontario's Future", with practical policy solutions to reduce child and family poverty and address growing income inequality in Ontario.
The report shows that the Ontario government's 2008 poverty reduction commitments had reduced child poverty levels by 6.6% by 2010, but this downward trend has been jeopardized by 2012's austerity budget. Campaign 2000 calls for action in the 2013 Budget to increase the Ontario Child Benefit, raise minimum wage and enhance social assistance and child care.
