Health workers and community members rally against IFH cuts

 

Minister Deb Matthews met with the 60 frontline workers and community members at the January 23 Health for All rally. A petition with over 1000 signatures was presented calling for the Province to fill the IFH gap in refugee health care coverage. She agreed to a meeting with representatives of the Health for All coalition, but no concrete commitments were made to fill the funding gap.

CPRA and LIN Re-Launch the Northern Links Website

 

The Northern Links website, which supports recreation practitioners in First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities in making positive changes through recreation, has been re-launched by the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) and Leisure Information Network (LIN). The new design is visually striking, easier to navigate and highlights the First Nations, Inuit and Métis supplement to the Everybody Gets to Play™ program.

New Accessibility Standards for the Design of Public Spaces added to the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation

 

On January 1, 2013, the Government of Ontario achieved another milestone in implementing the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA). The Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (Ontario Regulation 191/11) was amended to include accessibility requirements for the Design of Public Spaces (Accessibility Standards for the Built Environment).
