So March is upon us now.  For some that signals the beginning of Spring, but alas, for others we will wait until mid April for that to occur. Still, we can all look forward to outdoor weather again after a heck of a harsh winter slammed most of us.

Where to enjoy a cigar is often not really up to us is it?  Some are lucky enough to have a man cave, some the garage or workshop.  Once the weather improves, my favorite spot for a cigar becomes the backyard deck.  On a day without wind, drink in hand and my dog Corona by my side, there is nothing more relaxing.

Ok, on to business and this update. Governments are constantly looking to raise taxes on tobacco, even premium cigars.  The Canadian government has imposed a 15% increase on the import excise tax for all cigars.  Now, this is based on the cost of the cigar at time of import, so it may be minimal if that is all that is passed up the chain, but if the importer decides to use their normal mark up and make more profit at the same time, it could hit prices harder. We will have to wait and see the result over the coming weeks, but I thought you may want a heads up to stock your humidor for Spring and Golf Season.
