Still all in place, go figure. I know, I know, exceptions for everything, but I am talking generalities here folks.
Premium Cuban cigars, quality aged single malt scotch, and not asking for directions or reading instructions for assembly. That just may be all we have left, so why not make sure you have the very best and find a little solace as a Man.
Stock your humidor, keep the best single malts, and cherish them as you enjoy them. Not a day out shopping or the hair salon experience I know, but maybe enough to calm the nerves and create a smile.

Why does a cigar sometimes
burn to one side?
The Canoe Effect some cigar lovers call it. Starts out lighting fine,then quickly one side burns like crazy, resulting in a hollowed out canoe look and a very poor cigar experience.
Many opinions are available, so I will just offer mine. Storage, or rather poor storage, is the issue of concern.
The wood in a humidor, often spanish cedar or mahogany, absorb moisture resulting in a constant humidirty level (RH) in the box. Now add cigars that are dry and they compete with the wood for that humidity. Your humidity device is intended to release further moisture to compensate so all is good. Often they dry out or cannot keep up and the cigars will start to pull moisture from the wood they lay upon. Once that is dry the portion of the cigar against the wood cannot breath and dries out.
Another scenario is the owner trys to "recharge" the humidor by wiping it down with (Hopefully) distilled water. He has all the best intentions, but the excess moisture in the wood is absorbed by the dryer cigars if placed back into the humidor too soon, resulting in a sort of wet strip on the cigar.
Either way, the cigar ends up with different humidity content along different planes of the cigar.
Now light that cigar and common sense can tell you what occurs next. A very slow burn from the wetter portion or a quick brush fire on the dry side. The drier the majority, the faster the burn up one side of your beloved cigar.
Simple solutions to consider include waiting 24 hours before putting cigars in a newly charged humidor. Another is adding moisture through the addition of a shot glass of water for 24 hours instead of wiping down the wood. You can also wipe down the sides and the lid only to prevent excess moisture transfer.
Lastly, once a week, use your thumb to roll your cigar stock about a quarter turn. This helps ensure more even moisture content in the cigar, preventing the anguish of seeing your cigar literally go up in smoke, but not in the good way.

Gentlemen, it is time to remember the one you love and the one that loves you. I normally use this space to bug you guys into doing something for the wife so she lets you keep on buying Cuban cigars from CanadianCigar.Com, but this year I want to say something new this year.
As a kid I was lucky enough to be brought up by a Mother that loved all the silly holidays, including St Valentine's Day. My Scooby lunch box always had a card, some hearts, a bit of chocolate and some blank Valentines in case I wanted to give one to a special girl in my class.
As I got older the trend continued and I became used to my Mother embarrassing me when I opened my brown bag lunch in high school and found a Valentine from her. She must have thought about it though, as often there were little heart chocolates, a big bag to share with my buddies. They laughed a little at my Mom sending me a Valentine, but ate the chocolates and I suspect were a little jealous.
It is worth noting that all the way to grade nine, she included a blank card in case I found a girl I wanted to give a Valentine to in my class.
What an amazing lady, lovely woman and friend she was. I miss her dearly and ask that you remember your Mom, Sister, Nieces and little ones on Valentine's Day 2014 this Friday Feb 14th! Make their day with even the smallest of gesture.

Cuban Cigar Review
Romeo y Julieta Petit Churchill

I will, this once, forgo my usual rant about Cuban logic when determining new vitolas. Suffice to say while I love the larger ring sizes of 50 to 54 it makes little sense to call something with the cherished Churchill name, and not produce it as a 47 ring.
Having said that this cigar benefits from the larger ring through draw and easy access to flavor. The worldwide trend toward shorter smokes with a decent ring offers some pleasant surprises. This is one such surprise.
Very similar to the short and wide churchill with the same blend of filler, this is simply a shorter time committment for a really nice cigar. I would hate to smoke this on a sunny day as the time is far too short, but if relegated to a garage or other such man cave area, or while waiting for the dog to go its business during a brisk walk, this cigar meets the need perfectly.
Mild side 4/10 with nice woods, some subtle cocao powder sensation and even a hint of pepper at the finish. Not too complex and loads of smoke. Only concern is smoke slowly to avoid it getting hot before you're past the band.
My rating on this vitola is a 89/100 DF

The Banker saw his old friend Tom, an eighty-year old rancher, in town. Tom had lost his wife a year or so before and rumour had it that he was marrying a mail order bride.
Being a good friend, the Banker asked Tom if the rumour was true. Tom assured him that it was. The Banker then asked Tom the age of his new bride to be. Tom proudly said "She'll be twenty-one in November".
Now the Banker, being the wise man that he was, could see that the sexual appetite of a young woman could not be satisfied by an eighty-year- old man.
Wanting his old friend's remaining years to be happy the Banker tactfully suggested that Tom should consider getting a hired hand to help him out on the ranch, knowing nature would take its own course.
Tom thought this was a good idea and said he would look for one that afternoon.
About four months later, the Banker ran into Tom in town again.
"How's the new wife?" asked the Banker. Tom proudly said, "Great! She's pregnant!"
The Banker, happy that his sage advice had worked out, continued, "And how's the hired hand?" Without hesitating, Tom said "She's pregnant too!"
