Cuban Cigar Reviews
4 7/8 x 50 robusto
Reviewer D Fraser
Seems I rate this cigar too often, mostly becuase I smoke it so often I guess. Hard to turn away, as it is a steady, consistent cigar that always pleases after a heavier beef dinner.
A love the first lighting of a royal corona, when at first I sense a hint of star anise and dry orange peel. Then it changes later to more dark cedar and spice.
While considered a strong side cigar, I find it more robust than typically strong, due to the absence of any acidity or charcoal right to the end.
For those wanting to try the stronger edge of Cuban cigars, this is the perfect selection, though you will want to see it is an after dinner cigar for sure.
My overall rating is 91/100

Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial
5 1/2 x 50 robusto extra

I recently rediscovered this cigar and remembered why I like this brand and size of cigar.
The cigar I chose had a darker wrapper a 4/6 which was somewhat oily and smooth as silk. I paired this cigar with an 18 year old Glenmoragine, it worked very well together.
When I first lit my cigar, it had a strong earth sensation followed in the last half with notes of white pepper and a mild spice.
I wouldn't recommend this cigar for the novice smoker it was on the stronger side. This is a great indoor or outdoor cigar.
My overall rating for this cigar is 90/100.
