- Marketing research shows that businesses receive a greater response by advertising on a series of related web sites. If you are on a fixed budget stay with those web sites that are easily recognized, have good rankings and relevant to the type of services you offer along with affordability rather than on one or two more expensive web sites.
- Try to grab your customers attention with a headline! Create a heading or prominent key phrase near the top of the advertisement such as what's unique about your business.

- Be brief in your write-ups, research indicates that you have an average of 10 seconds to grab your visitor's attention. Bullet points are very effective in providing easy to read information about your business.
- Make it easy to locate your contact information, so often this information is badly displayed. Use of maps and driving instructions will be appreciated by your customers.
- Ensure your navigation links work as customers will quickly leave if the web site lacks good functionality. Links to external sources should be similar to the services you offer.
- Advertising not only affects your sales directly but also "brand awareness", particularly when customers are searching for a specific product or service, your business brand is the first thing they will remember.
