Hello Parents:

It is the season when many individuals think of "giving" in many forms, including our students. Recently, many students begin to think more directly about the less fortunate and have been proactive with Food Drive and Charity Contest.

Canned Food Drive:  If you are interested in participating please feel free to send a can of food with your student to school. The radio students have been sharing this food drive on their radio station. Food Drive bins are located in front of the Main Office. I am told they want to get enough canned foods to "Fill Puckett's Truck." My truck is good size so.... hopefully you can help the students meet their goal.

Clothing Drive: One of our ASB Clubs called HELP Club is hosting the Clothing Drive at our school as well. New clothes are welcome. Boxes are in the Lobby.  This will benefit a local Homeless Shelter.

Emergency School Closure Information: As our Northwest Storm Season blows in, it is time to remind parents to register for the FlashAlert notification system. The FlashAlert Emergency listserv is housed by an outside organization and is tied directly to the school closure and late start media broadcast system, FlashAlert.  We will use this system to broadcast emergency or safety related messages.

Flash Alert: In order to get immediate updates via email and/or text you must register with the Flash Alert Network at  http://www.flashalert.net. The old School Report system migrated to Flash Alert last year so even if you were previously receiving alerts via SchoolReport.org in years past, you must register with Flash Alert. If you encounter difficulties joining this list, please contact Andreeves Ronser. In addition to the FlashAlert System, MISD also sends emails via the PTSA's Constant Contact listserv. We will be sending a more detailed article outlining the MISD's Emergency/Alert process soon.

Flag Dude Charity Fund Raiser -  Congrats To Flag Dudes: Recently the Flag Dudes coordinated and hosted a charity event that in one week's time raised over $800 for a charity - Serein Refugee Charity. They nominated a small group of staff members to compete for who could generate the most money for a charity. When the contest ended the winner, Mr. Sue, agreed to take a pie in the face and the proceeds raised for all staff members who competed were consolidated. Mr. Sue selected the charity  for the money to go to because he was the winner.

Happy Winter BreakI hope you get to spend fun, valuable time with your student and everyone gets a chance to enjoy family time.

Best Regards,

Vicki Puckett
