Breaking News: Montgomery County PEG Channels Win National Awards!
The Alliance for Community Media (ACM) announced its 2013 Hometown Media Award winners. Out of more than 800 entries, the Hometown Awards recognized Montgomery County as having some of the best community media programming of 2012, including student, independent producer and access center professional categories.

County Cable Montgomery, the County's government access channel, won an Access Center Professional award in the News category for County Report This Week. This program includes the latest news and information about Montgomery County. Topics include local, municipal and state legislative decisions, health updates, recreational opportunities, community events, tips from law enforcement and master gardeners, and the Pet of the Week. Episodes feature contributions from County Cable Montgomery, Montgomery College, Montgomery Community Media, Montgomery County Public Schools, Rockville and Takoma Park. Watch the winning edition here.

Montgomery Community Media, the county's community media center, has won the Overall Excellence Award in Public, Education, Government (PEG) access programming in the over $650,000 category. This award celebrates the organization's exceptional TV channels, classes, volunteers, fundraising, web platform, and technology. Visit MyMCMedia.

Founded in 1976, ACM represents over 3,000 Public, Educational and Governmental (PEG) access organizations and community media center throughout the country. The ACM works to protect the interests of these access centers and those who use PEG facilities and equipment to advance their causes through cable television and the Internet.
