Actor Brad Sherrill to Premiere
His Fifth Biblical One-Man Performance
at Chamblee First

Atlanta-based actor Brad Sherrill has worked for nearly a year on adapting for the stage the Apostle Paul's story found in Acts along with many of the most moving moments from Paul's letters. The result is an inspirational few hours of live performance presented with new 2015 multimedia from many of the Paul-related sites throughout Greece and Turkey.

Sherrill premieres 'APOSTLE' at his home church, Chamblee First UMC, on Sunday, September 13, at 7 p.m. The performance is free to the public with a free-will offering and reception to follow.

Since 2001, Sherrill has presented over 800 of his one-man performances (including The Gospel of John) in theaters and churches throughout the U.S., Canada and the U.K. Following the Chamblee premiere, Sherrill has additional performances of 'APOSTLE' throughout seven states.

Find more information on Sherrill's website: www.gospelofjohn.com

We Need YOUR Help!

Thanks so much for all you do!!

We thank God that there are families in our church that have been providing loving care to children over the past year who have been in some way separated from their parents.  Some have already said their painful goodbyes to these loving children.  We are thankful The United Methodist Childrens Home also just completed another IMPACT training that Simpsonwood hosted for those desiring to be foster parents and graduated 12 families from the Gwinnett/Hall County area.

When our Simpsonwood families initially received approval to become foster homes we had complied a list of items that our church members were willing to donate to these families.  Because the children that come into their homes can range from newborn to teenagers the families don't know what their needs will be until the day the child/children arrive.  We have one family that just received an 8 day old preemie and they have many needs as they haven't had babies in their home for many years.  There are a couple of other families who may expect new children soon and we want to have some resources ready to help them in their transition.

If you have items that you can donate and can continue to store until needed please contact:
 Julianna Clark ([email protected]),
Lisa Hines ([email protected]) or
Marilyn Mraz ([email protected]) with the items you have available and they will compile a list so the foster families will know what is available and who they can contact.  Items needed, just to name a few, will be:
  • Gently used clothing (baby and young children)
  • Baby items i.e diaper pail, crib, stroller, changing table, pack n play, highchair
  • Toys
  • Diapers/Pullups

Volunteers Needed
We need volunteers to serve in El Salvador on
 October 27 through November 4.

Mission activities we intend to accomplish:
  • Children's Bible School, last trip we were able to have about 50 children on 5 afternoons
  • Visit homes of families in the village were we are beginning to build a church this fall. We visited 40 families in the village of La Gloria on the last trip.
  • Construction projects in either La Gloria or at the mission residence.
  • Distribute reading glasses to villagers in La Gloria.
  • New for this trip, we plan to help with the church and children's program at a plant church that is being lead by Jose Arouche (the foreman we have been work with for 2 years).
As you can see is we have an ambitious plan. To complete the plan we'll need 12 people. Right now we have 6 commitments. We could easily use 4 -8 more volunteers.

Volunteers:
  • Do not need any specific skills just a big heart and a willingness to spread Jesus's Love.
  • At least 16 years old, if under 18 an accompanying responsible adult.
  • Need a valid passport
The trip cost is just under $1200, $530 ground fee and airline ticket.
Please contact myself or Amanda Lane for anymore information.
Thank you for considering being part of this mission trip.
