"Given in Love"
Click here or the image to the left to see a pictorial overview of the width and breadth of the ways CBF of NC is helping churches reach the state and the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ.  This year, our missions committee is challenging the church to help support state missions with a $2,000 church contribution to the state goal.  Together, we can make a difference!
MUSIC NOTES

We have finally arrived at Lent this year and I just wanted to take a little moment to remind everyone what that means musically.  We are all familiar with Easter themes - "Up From the Grave He Arose", "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" and "Hallelujah" chorus.  They are joyous tunes and many contain "hallelujah" or "alleluia" in the text.  I don't know of one written in a minor key, so the tunes are joyous and celebratory!  We all have that to look forward to when Easter gets here.

Lenten music is quite different.  Many of the tunes are set in minor keys and are slow with reflective texts, often quite sorrowful in many ways bringing to mind the suffering and death of Jesus.  They are intended to make us  reflect and look inwardly at ourselves during this period of time before Easter. So, be mindful of this and be expecting these type themes and tunes in some of the hymns and choral anthems as we move further into the season of Lent.  It might be that you will find a deeper meaning for this time in the Christian year.  When Easter arrives, we can celebrate with joyous music!  If you are familiar with the television show Duck Dynasty, then you may understand it when I say we will get to sing songs that are happy, happy, happy!

See you Sunday!
