DON'T MISS THE ST. JOHN'S BIBLE EXHIBIT
At Arts of the Albemarle Until the End of the Month
If you have not yet had the opportunity to visit the St. John's Bible exhibit at Arts of the Albemarle, it's not too late!  The selections of hand-illuminated Biblical texts are as inspiring as they are stunning.  Alongside these prints are many works by local artists and a large number of prints by the renowned Suffolk calligrapher Michael Podesta.  Don't miss the exhibit and these other upcoming opportunities:
   - Every Thursday at noon, a Bible study using one of the prints is held in the Twiford room at AoA.
   - Sunday evening, January 26, come to an ecumenical worship service at Evangelical Methodist Church to worship God and pray that God's light would shine in our city.

MUSIC NOTES

It was very nice to not have to worry about things this past weekend being away.  A very big thank you to the Chancel Choir, Dr. Hugh Middleton and Linda Jones for a wonderful service this past Sunday.  While I am not away very often, it is very nice not to have to worry about things, and all of you made that possible.

We traveled to Atlanta with the Center Players this past weekend and had a very successful trip with about 4500 other musical theatre students from across the country.  It turned out to be quite and astonishing and inspiring trip in many ways.  We won quite a few awards and the kids performed amazingly well both in their small group session and the large session.  Since they won best performance in their division, they had to perform one song from their show for the entire audience of 5000 people!  What a great experience for them!

I was able to attend several vocal workshops at the festival and learned all kinds of things, so look out.  We look forward to Wednesday for Children's choir at 5:30 and Chancel Choir rehearsal at 7:30 pm.  See you then.

WELCOME NEW MEMBER GUY ACKISS

Guy Ackiss was born in Norfolk, VA, on March 13, 1947, and grew up in a big family of 4 boys and 3 girls. He attended Creeds Elementary School and one of his first jobs was delivering medicine on a bicycle for the local pharmacy. At 18, he started working for Tidewater Construction Company.
