Loving God, Loving the Things God Loves
ROOM IN THE INN BEGINS THIS SUNDAY
Shelter for Families During the Coldest Time of Year
This Sunday, January 12, we will be opening our doors again for "Room in the Inn," a sheltering program for families without homes.  This effort represents the collaborative effort of several congregations, the YMCA, the Pasquotank School System and other valuable partners.

Last year's program was a great success, and we are on schedule to welcome at least one family on our very first night!  We still need volunteers to help in various areas, and need everyone's prayerful participation to fulfill our responsibility to these neighbors in their time of need.

Contact Dawn Kidd to find out how you can do your part to make this year another great one.

CHILDREN'S NEWS AND YOUTH HIGHLIGHTS
Children
The New Year has started, and we are very excited to see what God has in store for us this year. Several of our children are talking about becoming members of First Baptist and discussing  being baptized. Please be in prayer for them as they search for God's will in their lives.

The children and youth committee is already hard at work planning events for the year 2014 and we will keep you updated as the year progresses.

Youth
Our youth are still hard at work on their space and thank you for your support. This Sunday, our FBC youth will be leading the worship service and welcoming Heather and David Webb as they tell us about their mission in India. We will also be presenting them with the money we collected during the M&M fundraiser.

Coming up on February 2,we will be having a Super Bowl party in the youth room. As always we thank you so much for the love and support you continue us to show this amazing group of teens.

MUSIC NOTES
We said goodbye to Gaither Aydlett this past week, and I would like to thank all of the Chancel Choir members who were able to sing at the funeral service.  Also, several folks that usually sing in the Moravian Lovefeast were able to help us out - Nina Gregory, Carolyn Klett, Robin Harris, and Carole Lowry.  A special thank you to everyone.

Many of you know that Rodney Trueblood broke his hip and is now doing his rehab at Winslow's.  He is in room 709 and would love a card, visit or phone call if you have a chance.

For several years now, I have been involved with the Center Players at Arts of the Albemarle as the music director.  We will be traveling to Atlanta to participate in the Musical Theatre International Festival and Competition shortly. As a thank you to all of those who have helped support this effort, they will be presenting a condensed version of Beauty and the Beast at AOA on Sunday, January 12, at 3:00 pm.  Included in this presentation is a video put together by our own Dave Lacasse that chronicles the fundraising efforts and rehearsals related to this trip.  Admission is free and I hope that you will be able to attend.

See you Sunday!
