Winter Newsletter
Spotlight on Community Physiotherapy

Whether you're hitting the slopes or taking a brisk walk to the nearest hot chocolate dispensary, the winter season can sometimes be a challenging time to stay active.  For some clients recovering from complex injuries, travel to a physiotherapy clinic is even more difficult and the often short appointments offered are inadequate. Community physiotherapy addresses this need by providing comprehensive services at home or in community fitness facilities.  This winter newsletter looks at some of the advantage of community based physiotherapy to help your clients stay active.

In today's newsletter we cover:
  • Article: Top 10 things you need to know about community based PT
  • Spotlight on Community PTs at Community Therapists
  • CTI Gives Back to the Community
  • Spotlight on Brain Injury Occupational Therapists
  • Get Connected!
ARTICLE: Top 10 facts about Community PTs

Did you know that Community Therapists has provided community based physiotherapy since 2004? Our team of 10 physiotherapists provides services throughout the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley.

Here are the top 10 things you need to know
about our community based PTs!

1. Visits typically range from 1-2 hours depending on the client's needs.

2. Clients can be seen at home or in the community (gym or pool).

3. Physiotherapists provide an initial comprehensive assessment and can develop a program that can be implemented by a kinesiologist. Programs are monitored on a regular basis by the PT to ensure safety and effectiveness.

4. Clients who are elderly or individuals with chronic pain, complex conditions or multiple injuries can benefit from this style of physiotherapy as the treatment duration is longer and there is more 1:1 time with the client in comparison to a clinic setting.

Giving back to the Community
As a community-based organization, CTI recognizes the importance of not only assisting our own clients, but using our skills and resources to enhance the lives of others--both near and far.  In the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, Community Therapists decided to start a Philippines Relief fund

among the staff and successfully raised over $200 for the Red Cross.

Closer to home, we worked with  Big Brothers to collect $575 for a Holiday Hamper to assist a local family in need celebrate the holidays.

Other charitable causes that we have contributed to in 2013 include:
