2016 REVOLUTION MISSION TRIP
| |
A group of high schoolers are headed to south Chicago July 17-22 to serve at the Roseland Community Good News Daycare. The daycare, founded by Pearl Willis, serves children of mostly single moms living on a low income.
Roseland is funded mainly from donations given by individuals and churches locally and nationally. Roseland also receives money from the Childcare Initiative program in Chicago. We are taking a special offering to help them purchase essential supplies. If you would like to contribute to this fund, you can drop money off in the church office (checks should be made to POP with "Chicago daycare" in the memo). Thank you!

PARK BROOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

We are collecting school supplies for Park Brook Elementary . We would like supplies delivered to Prince of Peace by August 22nd so we can get them to Park Brook before their open house.
Attached here, is the school supply lists for each grade level. It's really fun to pick a grade and fill a backpack for a student. Watch for all the sales that probably have already started.

We are having a wonderful Summer in our Day Camps: We are living and learning under the theme of WHATEVER! Each week we have heard a different commandment from Jesus that we are called to live out in our daily lives. It has been busy, it has been crazy, but it has been AWESOME as our experiences have ranged from Water Days, to Bingo with residents of Maranatha. We have 6 more weeks of fun ahead of us.

The Prince of Peace Quilters have temporarily suspended meeting at the church during the busy summer months, although some members continue to work on quilt tops during this time. We sold 38 quilts at our annual sale last December, with proceeds going towards the purchase of quilt batting, materials and sewing supplies.
Our work over the past nine months yielded an additional 154 quilts, which the group donated to the Veterans Hospital, Salvation Army, Sharing & Caring Hands, Brooklyn Avenues for Homeless Youth, and two women's shelters.
Quilting meetings at the church will begin again in September, on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month through May. In the meantime, please continue to save cotton or cotton/poly sheets or fabric that can be used for quilt squares or backing; these can be dropped off at the church and will be held in the quilters closet. Enjoy the beautiful summer!

WELCOME TO PRINCE OF PEACE
|
| Welcome To Prince of Peace!
Check out our welcome video! This professionally produced video will give visitors to our website a glimpse of what we are all about at Prince of Peace. The video can also serve as a fantastic way to invite others to Prince of Peace. We bet that you know at least three people who are not active members in a local congregation. Take a moment and send them a quick email with the link to this video. We also encourage you to share the video on your own Facebook page. It is an easy and effective way to let folks know about the wonderful outreach and ministry happening at your church and to let them know that they are invited! |
