PARENT ONEREAD/DISCUSSION

Prince of Peace Spiritual Growth Team, in collaboration with Pr Natalia, and both our Children and Youth Ministries, is putting on a Parent OneRead.

Together, during the month of March, we'll read "The Collapse of Parenting" by Dr. Leonard Sax.

It's an interesting and unique take on parenting by a renowned family physician and psychologist, with years of research and expertise in forming his book. We will use Dr Sax's book to build a lively discussion for parents of kids at all stages and age, at 6pm on Wednesday, April 6th.  Parenting is hard. So let's talk about it together.
Sound like something you're interested in
Feel free to join the discussion on April 6 even if you don't get the book read.  It is not necessary to have the book to be a part of the discussion.  But you can buy the book here from Amazon.  Keep your eyes open for a Facebook discussion group, as well as a reading plan (if you want it) and discussion night information.

Want more information about Dr Sax? Here's his website
Here's a great interview from MPR about this very book.
CONGREGATIONAL SURVEY

God calls all people and congregations beyond survival and into an abundant life. As Jesus said, "I came that they might have life, and have it abundantly." (John 10:10)
Prince of Peace is committed to continually assessing our vitality and moving and growing together.  Vital congregations may be large or small. They may be growing, shrinking or holding steady. Yet the key to their vitality is that they experience God's active presence in everyday life and live as disciples of Christ.

One of the ways we hope to assess Prince of Peace's vitality is through this survey.  It is a short survey, around 10 minutes or less, and will help us better understand what aspects of our congregation are promoting vitality and what are distracting from it.
Please take the time to fill out this survey and give us a comprehensive look at our congregational vitality.  Your participation is so greatly appreciated.

We will have a meeting to discuss these results at some point in the future.  There will be paper copies in the office that people can fill out and we'll enter here at POP.
COMMUNION

On Maundy Thursday a wonderful group of our 5th graders received their first communion. During all of our first communion instruction classes, we watch this funny little video together. We wanted to share it with the entire congregation because we could all benefit from a reminder of the proper way to receive communion during worship.

The video was produced for a Roman Catholic audience so the instruction related to receiving communion on the tongue will apply to very few Lutheran congregations. However, the rest of the video certainly does apply to our tradition, especially the main thought, which reminds us that communion is something we "receive" and not something we "take."

Have a look at this fun little video and take this opportunity to thank God for the gift of Holy Communion.

QUILTERS - donated 9 of the quilts they made to the Salvation Army Northern Division headquarters in Brooklyn Park in January 2016.  In March, Jo delivered 14 of their quilts to Sharing and Caring Hands.  They are most certainly the hands and hearts of God in their wonderful sewing ministry!

WELCOME TO PRINCE OF PEACE

Welcome To Prince of Peace!

Check out our  welcome video! This professionally produced video will give visitors to our website a glimpse of what we are all about at Prince of Peace. The video can also serve as a fantastic way to invite others to Prince of Peace. We bet that you know at least three people who are not active members in a local congregation. Take a moment and send them a quick email with the link to this video. We also encourage you to share the video on your own Facebook page. It is an easy and effective way to let folks know about the wonderful outreach and ministry happening at your church and to let them know that they are invited!
