CANCER SUPPORT SUNDAY

Sunday, October 11 is Cancer Support Sunday here at Prince of Peace.  There will be tables  in the Welcome Center with information.
People are invited to bring a flower (any kind) to church that day and during the opening hymn of the worship service, you will be invited to put your flower in a vase on the altar in memory of or honor of someone with cancer.

The Prince of Peace Cancer Support group meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Fireside Room.  All are welcome ... if you have cancer or know someone who has cancer or have lost a loved one to cancer, this is a group for you.
TRUNK-OR-TREAT and POP TOTS

Trunk-or-Treat is BACK and we need your help! On Saturday, October 31st we will be filling our parking lot with cars.   The event will run from 10-12 (with trunk-or-treating ending at 11:30). If you are able to decorate your car trunk, and provide candy for 150-200 kids, please sign-up on the kiosk by Sunday, October 25th. This event has become a great outreach event in our community as we are able to promote it at Park Brook and other avenues of publicity. Will you help make it a success? If you are not able to decorate a car trunk, but would still like to help, let us know - we can find a place for you :)

POP Tots is our monthly gathering for all children ages birth-3 years. This gathering is designed to help our youngest members feel comfortable at church before they start Sunday School. It is simply a chance for you, and your child to hang out, play with toys and games, eat a snack, do a craft, and just BE at church. Our next gathering is on Saturday, November 7th @ 9:30. If you are currently not receiving our POP Tots emails, please let Katie know and we will get you on the list.

OUT REACH TEAM

OUT REACH TEAM NEEDS YOU!
Galatians 5:13-14 ...
You, my brothers, were called to be free.
But do
not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature;
rather, serve one another in love. The entire law is summed up in a single command:
"Love your neighbor as yourself."

The Outreach Team needs YOU.  There are a million and one ways to reach out in our community.  Email Richard Habstritt to find one that "fits you".

The blood drive on September 28 helped to save and sustain lives in our community.

A total of 34 units were collected.  These donations are already helping patients in need.
Prince of Peace blood drive results:
             Whole blood donors         28
              Double red cell donors      3
              Total units collected        34
              Drive goal                       31
              Percent of goal              110%!
Let's shoot for a higher goal next time!

There were 5 walk-ins which helped cover some cancellations.  And, there were 2 first time donors with MBC.

YOUTH AND FAMILY MINISTRY

Youth and Family Ministry

This year Axis is focusing on Faith Circle Relationships, This year, Axis is focusing on a concept from The Youth & Family Institute & Peer Ministry Leadership.  An FCR is a relationship that inspires, encourages, and shares life and faith with you. Many people want to know how many youth we have in our ministries. Well, I want to know how many faith-centered adults are surrounding each of our kids.

We take seriously the belief that "faith is formed by the power of the Holy Spirit...and often nurtured through trusted, personal relationships." Are you pouring life into a young person? Who has poured life in to you? Consider the different "circles" of relationships that you have:
-Family
-Friends
-Community (including your congregation!)
-Culture
If you can identify a person or more in each circle, be grateful! Let those people know the difference they have made in your life. If you want to be intentional about making that kind of difference in a young person's life, talk to me!

Revolution Mission Trip 2016: Roseland Community Good News Daycare in Chicago. July 17-22.  We are returning to our friends in the Roseland community of south side Chicago. During our week we will teach & play with the kids, experience Chicago, & work on a project for the daycare. We will get to know & hear stories from Ms. Pearl Willis, founder of the Good News daycare & incredible woman of faith.

Brooklyn Avenues has been open for over 6 months already. This home, created by the northwest suburbs for their youth, has proven what we expected - that it is a critical community resource for youth experiencing homelessness.
Brooklyn Avenues 6 month update by the numbers:
  • Brooklyn Avenues has supported 48 young people so far.
  • 15 youth have already lived on site & moved on.
  • As of July 31 there were 11 youth currently living in the program.
  • 22 youth have utilized the overnight emergency bed for at least 1 night.

Attached here is a list of supplies they could use and information on the Robert Robertson Benefit concert.

Stay informed by making sure youth are on our text list (high school only, text me with your number, 763-744-7369) or checking Facebook/Twitter/Instagram - @POPyouthfamily.

WELCOME TO PRINCE OF PEACE!

Welcome To Prince of Peace!

Check out our  welcome video! This professionally produced video will give visitors to our website a glimpse of what we are all about at Prince of Peace. The video can also serve as a fantastic way to invite others to Prince of Peace. We bet that you know at least three people who are not active members in a local congregation. Take a moment and send them a quick email with the link to this video. We also encourage you to share the video on your own Facebook page. It is an easy and effective way to let folks know about the wonderful outreach and ministry happening at your church and to let them know that they are invited!
