FROM BISHOP EATON

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I am in touch with you even as I am headed to Charleston, S.C., to be present at the funeral of the Rev. Clementa C. Pinckney, who was pastor at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church and was a graduate of the ELCA's Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary.

Included here is the public statement I made June 18, the day after the shooting in Charleston.

Thank you again for your ministry and all you do to share the good news of Jesus Christ and God's healing, redemptive power.

Your Sister in Christ,

The Rev. Elizabeth A. Eaton
Presiding Bishop
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

MISSION JAMAICA 2016

We are starting to make our plans in preparation for our 2016 mission work in Jamaica.  It is hard to believe that in less than 9 months we will be leaving to join our old friends and meet new friends at West Haven Orphanage, Faith and Vision Chapels and the communities where we visit and stay.

In 2016 we will be spending three weeks in Jamaica.

February 27 - March 5    West Haven Orphanage

March 5 - March 12         Vision Chapel

March 12 - March 19       Faith Chapel

You are welcome to come for one week, two weeks, or join us for all three.

We will be holding informational meetings in the next couple months so please watch the Enews, website, and announcements at church.  Prince of Peace has been making mission trips to Jamaica since 2004 - is this the year you are able to join us for a rewarding and fun experience of doing God's work in His world.

If you have immediate questions, please contact Terri Revell 612-272-5685 or terri2192@msn.com

WELCOME TO PRINCE OF PEACE!

Welcome To Prince of Peace!

Check out our  welcome video! This professionally produced video will give visitors to our website a glimpse of what we are all about at Prince of Peace. The video can also serve as a fantastic way to invite others to Prince of Peace. We bet that you know at least three people who are not active members in a local congregation. Take a moment and send them a quick email with the link to this video. We also encourage you to share the video on your own Facebook page. It is an easy and effective way to let folks know about the wonderful outreach and ministry happening at your church and to let them know that they are invited!

FINANCIAL UPDATE

MID-YEAR FINANCIAL UPDATE

       JuneYTD     BudgetYTD     Budget AnnuaLastYrYTD

Total Receipts $452,512     $451,381        $917,900             $440,255

Total Expense $449,295     $462,037        $917,693             $416,607

It is exciting to see that contributions are greater YTD this year than last year - thank you for your generosity and for staying current with your giving through the summer months! Our non-contribution receipts are less than last year because we have had less building use and we had a significant amount in memorials last year. However, as we welcome Angel's Learning Center to our building starting in June, we anticipate this will change over the next few months.

Thank you for your faithful support for the victims of the Nepal earthquake. Together we raised $2,500 which was added to the $1,000 matching gift from Leave a Legacy for a total of $3,500.

Now would be a great time to set up automatic giving! If you are paying your household bills through billpay or electronically you know how easy and safe it is. You never have to wonder if you have sent the check or if it will be late. Your church giving can be the same. Sign-up form is available on our website, in the office, or we can email it to you. You can also sign up directly from our website. Questions? Contact Kathy at kathya@princeofpeacechurch.org.

BBQ and WORSHIP IN THE PARK

Our first BBQ and Worship in the park was a huge success.  Thank you to Cub for donating the meat and buns, to members of prince of peace who provided the side dishes and to the grillers who cooked up the meat.  Our goal is to get to know our neighbors not only here at Prince of Peace, but people who live in the neighborhood surrounding our church.

It worked!

So, our second of three BBQ and Worship Wednesdays in the park will be Wednesday, July 22nd.  It's the same drill, we'll grill and ask members to bring sides.  We have a meal and then worship with the community.  Bring chairs, picnic blankets and stay to sing and worship together.

This is one BIG way we can grow deep and reach out together!  We'd love to have you all join us.  Want to help or bring something?  Contact Natalia to get connected.

WORSHIP

Psalm 47: 1-2
   "Clap your hands, all you nations;
shout to God with cries of joy.
How awesome is the Lord Most High,
the great King over all the earth!"

Miss a Sunday? Need to revisit a meaningful message? Want to share a message with a friend? Find it here.

Sunday and Wednesday will be different services (different sermons).  Plan on attending one or both and please consider signing up to be a host for a Wednesday night meal.
