THEOLOGY on TAP

Tuesday, January 27 begins our new year of Theology On Tap!  Let's start the year around 7:30 pm at Mad Jack's in Brooklyn Park

Instead of "resolutions," let's talk goals. What is one thing you want to accomplish by this time next year?

The more the merrier! Invite your friends and RSVP so we know how much room we'll need. Any questions, just call / text Libby at 952-769-7676, Facebook message, or email  elisabeth.marker@gmail.com.

LOAVES AND FISHES

Are you looking for way to serve?   Here's a wonderful opportunity.  Prince of Peace helps serve the Brooklyn Center loaves and fishesLoaves and Fishes meals held at Lutheran Church of the Master, 1200 69th Ave. N.,  in Brooklyn Center from 4:30-5 to around 6:45 pm.    Prince of Peace has committed to the 4th Monday of each month.  Our next Monday is January 26.   Look for "Grace Dinners" on the LCM calendar.

We wait on tables, count guests, scrape plates, wash pans, and sometimes help in the kitchen.  It's fun and a great opportunity to meet and converse with others and enjoy the meal yourself.  It can be a one time or an ongoing service opportunity.

If  you have questions or would like to sign up to help, contact Bev Alsleben at 612-964-9865.
THE GREATEST GIFT

We know that a number of Prince of Peace families struggle with illness and loss and though it is always hard, it can be even harder during our holiday seasons.

The attached poem was written by a member with a loved one who is  facing a serious illness and offered this poem as a message

of hope and encouragement for our whole community.

LIBRARY NEWS

Looking for a good read for a cold winter night?

Fannie Flagg's Can't Wait To Get To Heaven  is set in a small Missouri town where the most surprising experiences of a high-spirited octogenarian inspire the town to ponder the question "Why are we here?"

This is a fun read and makes you think about how you live your life, believing in miracles, and the people you love and the friendships you keep. (Reviewed by Jan Johnson)

2015 Revolution Mission Trip: Pine Ridge, South Dakota

A partnership with Lutherans Outdoors in South Dakota and the people of the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Our goal: To reach out in Christian love and walk alongside our neighbors of the Lakota culture. We will spend a week on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation listening to Native American speakers, playing with Lakota youth, working on a service project, worshiping together, and learning about issues of poverty, diversity, multiculturalism, and Lakota spiritual belief and practice. We will make new friends as we become immersed in Lakota culture.

When: July 12-17 (Sunday-Friday)  Cost: $400

Family Faith Night Resources for Everyone!

Each month in Axis we have Family Faith Night.  These evenings are a time for families to practice at church some faith building exercises that can be done in the home (or on the road, or wherever you your life takes you!).  This year we are focusing on 4 Keys for Practicing Faith in Daily Living from Vibrant Faith. However, we don't just want to keep this stuff for ourselves! Below you will find links to resources we often employ in our Family Faith Night activities. Take a look!

www.vibrantfaithathome.org - Ideas & resources geared toward families in every stage of life.

www.faith5.org - 5 faith practices that can be done every day, in every home.

Holding Your Family Together  - This book goes in depth on the FAITH 5 & the holistic benefits that are possible from practicing your faith together as a family.
