"I wanted to wait until we fully transitioned back to our fall worship schedule before I wrote my September report.  So here's the report.

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION

If you're interested in learning more about Prince of Peace and/or would like to check into joining the church family here, you should attend the next new member orientation.  There are 2 sessions, the first one is Sunday, October 5 and the 2nd is Sunday, October 12th.  You should plan to attend both.  We start the session out with a light lunch following the 10:30 am worship service.  Childcare is provided, we just need to know how many and what ages so we have enough help.

If you have questions or would like to register, call the office at 763-560-8958 or email lynellk@princeofpeacechurch.org.

BROOKLYN AVENUES

COMMUNITY CONCERT FUNDRAISER

The groundbreaking is completed for Brooklyn Avenues Youth Homeless Shelter, just up Broadway from Prince of Peace.  It is the first of its kind in the suburbs and will prevent homeless youth from exploitation and harm.  Prince of Peace is one of the faith communities that initially supported the city's effort to make this a reality.  The Outreach Team of POP initiated this fundraiser and musicians from a variety of churches have been working together to plan the benefit concert.   Plan to attend an inspired night of music featuring:

Gospel Singer,  Robert Robinson & a 100 voice community choir

 THEOLOGY on TAP

Our next Theology on Tap meeting is Tuesday, September 23, at Mad Jack's in Brooklyn Park. Theology on Tap is an extension of Young Adult Ministry at Prince of Peace. We get together once per month to have some faith filled discussion over appetizers and (adult) beverages at a local bar.   Now that summer vacation time is over, let's talk about work - do you like your work? What is your dream job? How does your faith life influence your work life?

The more the merrier! Invite your friends and RSVP so we know how much room we'll need. Any questions, just call/text Libby at 952-769-7676, Facebook message, or email  elisabeth.marker@gmail.com.   See you there!!

GROUPLIFE

GroupLife

Groups at POP do life together, providing opportunities to grow deep in faith and build significant relationships. Jesus modeled this living by his own way of ministry, inviting many to join him, but going deeper with a select few. We need this kind of community to truly live.

Our Fall GroupLife Series kicks off October 19, with group signups starting October 5. Consider where you might fit into a group and sign up. If you need help finding a group that fits or if you have questions contact Natalia at 763-560-8958 or email nataliat@princeofpeacechurch.org

MISSION JAMAICA 2015

Mission Jamaica (MJ) is a short-term "vacation with a purpose" mission experience, which began at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, MN in 1990. It combines a service project with time for reflection and spiritual rest. It allows a person to experience an international mission field that is close to home, yet far enough away to immerse into another culture for a week.  MJ missionaries invest themselves in two main areas/cities in Jamaica:
-Montego Bay Area- West Haven Children's Home, JaBode (Formerly Habitat), Copse Basic School, Garland Hall Orphanage, Riverside Basic School and Medical clinics at St. John's, Sunset Beach Resort, Burnt Savannah, and Copse.
-Kingston Area- Hope Valley Experimental School, Penwood Medical clinic, Calaloo Mews Basic School, JaBode projects.

In 2014, 20 people from Prince of Peace served at West Haven Children's Home for  physically/mentally challenged and worked with the community at Burnt Savanah-Bamboo to change a shipping container into classrooms, office or other space needed by the church.

There will be a meeting in the Welcome Center on Sunday, October 5th between services (10 am).
Stop by to see if this is your year to experience
Mission Jamaica!
