New Machinery Investment
New Wire EDM Machine at Custom Stamping Facility
Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is one of the most accurate manufacturing processes available for manufacturing metal parts and components with complex shapes and geometries. Wire EDM machining is a method of cutting metals, in which a traveling wire disintegrates material in a controlled manner. It uses an electrically charged thin brass wire, which is moved by computer control, close to, but not touching, the part to be cut. The small gap (anywhere from .0005 to .020 inch) creates a spark, which vaporizes small particles of the metal piece as the wire advances. The disintegrated particles are flushed away by dielectric fluid, and the wire is able to advance further. The travel of the wire is determined by the machine's computer program.
We're excited to have the upgraded technology on our shop floor! One of the main benefits of the upgrade is the gain in efficiency we have realized from the automatic feeder. The automatic feeder allows the machine to be programmed to do multiple unassisted cuts and performs 33% faster than our previous EDM machine.
Winzeler Stamping Company continues to look for ways to reinvest in the business and deliver both cost savings and process improvement as often as we can. With our expert team of in-house tool makers and designers, we deliver precision-machined components that meet or exceed customer expectation.

Winzeler Stamping Company Participates in Northwest Ohio Manufacturing Day Event
One of the challenges facing manufacturers today is a growing gap in skilled labor. To address this issue, many manufacturers are focusing on trying to inspire high school students to pursue manufacturing careers. One of the key messages for students to hear is that manufacturing jobs have changed from what they once were, and that good jobs are available and waiting to be filled.
Junior and Senior students from the surrounding Northwest Ohio school districts were invited to Northwest State Community College to attend the Manufacturing Day event. The d ay was designed to introduce students to the new world of manufacturing. They experienced an expo tour, a soft skills workshop, and student breakout sessions featuring topics such as Engineering/STEM, Welding / Plasma Cutting, Robotics, and Machining. Manufacturers from 5 NW Ohio counties had the opportunity to talk about the products they manufacture and the skills that they look for when hiring.
By all account s, this was a terrific learning opportunity for students and a great way for manufacturers to meet and interact with the future workforce.
