The Screw Machine Shop at Winzeler Stamping Company is growing again!

Each year there are millions and millions of stamped components that make their way through the production areas at Winzeler Stamping Company.   Since 2008, our screw machine shop has been busy increasing its share of the business.  Since 2011, we have increased our screw machine output in units by over 50%.  Screw Machine Shop Having screw machining capability has proven to be a cost effective solution for producing high strength, high-volume parts for our customers as well as an important piece of the fabrication process in our own products such as garden hose couplings.

We have processed more than 100 tons of raw material this year including brass,  Eco-brass,  steel and aluminum in square, hex, and round material.  One of the advantages that we at Winzeler Stamping enjoy is our close proximity to Chase Brass and Copper, a recognized US supplier of brass, copper, and other alloys.  The convenience and cost savings we realize from being only a few miles away from our raw material supplier allows us to offer competitive pricing on most high-volume runs.

Screw Machined In the five years since we introduced  screw machining capability we have more than doubled the number of multi-spindle machines we have on the floor, expanded our capability to include machines that offer a diameters of 1", 1 ¼", and 1 5/8".  We have also grown the business to include a department which runs two full-time shifts each day providing products for the automotive and non-automotive industries.   Having this machining capability has allowed us to move deeper into the engine components market by offering a product which meets the demanding requirements for clean high-precision machined parts.

Our screw machine shop has an excellent quality record with an average of only 1 PPM rejected over the past three years.  As a company which is certified to ISO/TS 16949:2009, we work hard to provide defect-free parts. All products leave our shop fully inspected.

Success has come in the form of new customers and by increasing the total number of units we provide to existing customers.  Through collaboration between our engineering and production teams, we have patented products that were created here at Winzeler Stamping.  We believe that we can continue building on our successes as we continue plans for growing and enhancing our screw machine department with new equipment, technology, and resources in the upcoming years.

Manufacturing in Fact

A popular misconception among many Americans is that domestic manufacturing is dying. Whether that opinion is based on media reports or casual observations in the big-box stores, the facts around American manufacturing show that our industrial output continues to grow and that American manufacturing is globally competitive.  Our manufacturing base is strong and immeasurably vital to many other sectors of the economy.

Did You Know...

  • In 2012, manufacturers contributed $1.87 trillion to the economy, up from $1.73 trillion in 2011. This was 11.9 percent of GDP.
  • For every $1.00 spent in manufacturing, another $1.48 is added to the economy, the highest multiplier effect of any economic sector.
  • Manufacturing supports an estimated 17.2 million jobs in the United States-about one in six private-sector jobs. Nearly 12 million Americans (or 9 percent of the workforce) are employed directly in manufacturing.
  • Manufacturers in the United States are the most productive in the world, far surpassing the worker productivity of any other major manufacturing economy, leading to higher wages and living standards.
  • Manufacturers in the United States perform two-thirds of all private-sector R&D in the nation, driving more innovation than any other sector.
  • Companies with less than 100 employees make up over 94% of all U.S. manufacturing.
  • Taken alone, manufacturing in the United States would be the 9th largest economy in the world.
  • U.S. manufacturers are responsible for 47% of the total U.S. exports.
