Sequoia Grade 5 Field Trip |

We went exploring up a rocky hillside, climbing the outcrops and just clambering about. We found some good patches of snow for snowball fights; went through a patch of forest with lots of ice underfoot, then round and down back to our starting point. After a wonderful buffet lunch at the lodge, we drove off south for about 30 minuets to the trailhead for Little Baldy. This was an easy climb up the mountain (with snow here and there, of course), leading to one of the most amazing views in the Sierras. From the relatively flat ,rocky summit of Little Baldy (8044 ft.) we had an awesome panoramic view all around. To the east we had the imposing chain of the High Sierras, with many peaks (including Mt. Whitney) around 6000 ft. higher than us! South we could see the mountains the I-5 goes over to get to LA, and to the west ridge after ridge of mountains and hills leading down to the ocean of cloud that filled the Central Valley, and beyond that, far to the west, the Coastal Mountains. It was a breath-taking spot, and we were only there thanks to the lack of snow.

The Gala & Auction is Saturday, March 15 An Invitation is Coming Next Week The Auction Crew is Awaiting Your Items Now |
Yes, it's finally time. It's 2014 meaning the Gala is right around the corner. We are counting on every family to donate ONE ITEM to be auctioned, and it would be even better if it were something you didn't have to purchase.
The auction team is still hoping for, EVERY type of item. From the indulgent to the practical. They will be collecting your items curbside near the flagpole at drop-off next week Wed - Fri (Jan 22 - 24).
- Do you have access to a vacation home we could auction to become someone's family vacation? We are still looking for Larger Live Auction Items and would love to add yours!!
- Do you have access to a unique experience?
- Or could you team up with somebody to provide a service such as, party-planning, landscaping, cooking, photo-book making, you get the picture.
- Or would your employer be willing to make a sponsorship contribution?
For inspiration and practicality, the Silent Auction Categories are: Night Out Family Adventure Artisan & Collectibles Food & Wine Body, Mind & Soul Handcrafted Electronics Sports Community Services Travel / Stay-cation For Her For Him For Kids For Pets Silent auction items will be offered on-line and at the event, giving us access to a broad variety of shopping and greater numbers than our parent body alone. The sky is the limit on our earning potential! Helpful tools: - Donation Letter to help you obtain a donation
- Form for you to fill out once you receive a donation (before you bring it to the office). The school sends a very nice tax receipt thank you letter to all donors.
- For over achievers - information on sponsorships and ad space (very helpful and needed!)
- Ideas for successful auction items, please don't feel limited by the list. Use only if you're stumped.
- Need help. Contact Denise Ogawa in the office, dogawa@waldorfschool.com or (949)574-7775, ext. 210.
