Happening in the High
9th Grade Marionette Play-TONIGHT!!!
The ninth grade would like to extend an invitation to all the parents in the community to come see them perform a play on Thursday, June 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the Eurythmy Hall. The play will be a Navajo story, featuring the marionettes ninth grade has been busily creating in afternoon art classes for the last several weeks. We ask that no children be in attendance, as this play will be performed at the assembly on Friday, June 14, and we would like for the students to experience it together.
HIGH SCHOOL BANQUET
On June 8 the High School students, faculty and parents gathered to celebrate the collective student accomplishments this year. There were too many to note everything here, but we would love to share some of the highlights.
Electives and Clubs
These groups reflected on the years' experiences and of future plans:
*Student Task Force
*Student Council, speech delivered by Blaze C. (11th grade)
*Yearbook, speech delivered by Willow (11th grade)
Athletes were acknowledged for their participation and MVPs awarded to each team. Congratulations to you all.
*Boys' Basketball MVP Jack (12th grade)
*Girls' Volleyball had 2 teams. MVPs are Tianna (12th grade), Mimi (11th grade) and Inessa (9th grade)
*Soccer (co-ed) MVP is Jack (12th grade). This team earned a big trophy as league champs.
*Track & Field. MVP not named, but speech delivered by Alexander (11th grade)
A special award of gratitude was given to Mary Pat Anderson, our college counselor.
*This year Mary Pat guided the process resulting in our 4 High School students' acceptances into 12 colleges and universities across with country, with 6 scholarship offers overall.
*Within our short 3-year history of graduates, Mary Pat is proud to have guided our 19 graduates into colleges and universities, with substantial scholarship offers. It's a very impressive amount for a small number of students within a relatively short period of time, although Mary Pat credits the students completely for these amazing results.
Tianna B., 12th grader, was presented with a Worthy Student award for her exceptional community outreach and volunteer effort over the past 4 years. Tianna has worked with senior citizens, food banks and most recently The Blind Children's Learning Center.
Paula-Sophia has been playing her cello in the Four Seasons Youth Orchestra for several years now. This summer ( July 6th ) they are joining the World Projects Performance Tour to Sydney, Australia
to meet other international youth orchestras. Performances will be given in St. Andrew's Cathedral, Amphitheatre Darling Harbor, Angel Place City Hall and the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.
If you see her, wish her good luck for a fair competition and a good placement!

Just a brief note, to express to our community how happy and proud I feel to be part of WSOC. I just finished my 2nd year as the Spanish Teacher for the lower grades and has been a pleasure to work with such a professional and dedicated group of colleagues, staff, Board members and parents. Everybody is working in the same direction, looking with care, to the future of our children and the success of our school.
If I would describe with 2 words our school they would be: recognition and care!
Thank you for all the support!
