Supporting the Work of Your Child at School
Featured Speaker: Ingun Schneider
Ingun Schneider, PT, MA, is director of the three-year, part-time Remedial Education Program at Rudolf Steiner College. Since 1994 she consults at Waldorf schools around the world, teaching teachers and parents about child development as foundation for learning. In support of students' learning, she assesses/screens at many Waldorf schools. Ingun will share childrenīs sensory-motor development as a foundation for ease of learning, some basic nutrition for children; and more information geared for children from newborn to 3rd Grade.
No Reservations Required. This is for Adults Only and this invitation is extended to grandparents and friends of our families.

3rd Grade Goodwill
For the holiday season, our 3rd graders found a wonderful way to be of service to people in need. They pooled their resources to make a donation to Heifer International, whose mission is to end world hunger through sustainability. They gave the gift of a cow, chicks, geese, bees, tree seedlings, a sheep, ducks, a llama and a goat to people in 3rd world countries who needed them to improve their lives. How did they do it you ask?
- They did chores at home, for neighbors or extended family members in exchange for a small donation.
- Some shared their allowance.
- Several students operated a hot chocolate stand.
- Miss Andrea pledged $1 to the donation fund for each correct times table recitation and one of the parents from the class matched it. The students were motivated to see their good deed grow, and also had a lot of fun using their times tables to count the money.

To see how your children's classes are doing on participation, see the updated chart.
Congratulations to the following classes who are above 70% participation:
--12th Grade: 75% participation
--8th Grade: 72% participation
--3rd Grade: 71% participation
School wide we have reached 64% participation, which is strong, but we need 100%. The volunteer annual giving callers will begin soon. Please make your gift or pledge today so they know you do not need to be contacted.
Visit www.waldorfschool.com/annual to make a one-time gift or pledge over time. Or come into the office for an envelope, in which you can make a one-time gift now or pledge a one-time gift to be given prior to the end of the school year.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY AND
COMMITMENT TO YOUR CHILDREN |
AUCTION ITEM DONATIONS DUE FEB. 1
Our Gala is in 57 days! The volunteer crew is hard at work. Help them to avoid the last-minute rush by getting your fabulous donations in NOW. Every family is encouraged to procure or donate 1 item, and please beat the Feb. 1 deadline if at all possible. It just helps the team to do a more thorough job using your donation to raise money for the school.
Event tickets will be on sale starting next week, so please look for your invitation via email (we are saving paper and ensuring every dollar goes to the school by foregoing a printed invitation). It's time for the classes to start forming their tables, so please talk to your room rep about getting yourself a spot.
As a reminder, the big day is:
Saturday, March 9, 5PM
Harborside Grand Ballroom in the Balboa Pavillion
Auction Donation Forms and Solicitation Letters are in the front office, or you may print them here:
Donation Form
Donation Solicitation Letter (take this to businesses you frequent to ask them to support us).
If you need ideas for great auction items, see this fun list.
We are still welcoming event sponsors of all sizes and advertisers. Call or email Denise Ogawa to learn about your opportunity. Email Denise. Call Denise (949)574-7775, ext. 210. Or pop into the front office and head to the front of the line!
This event is shaping up to be beautiful with a huge potential for success. The Gala Team has a few tricks up their sleeves and some exciting new things to announce. Look for that next week.
