Contra Dancing

JOIN US FOR AN OLD-TIME COMMUNITY CONTRA DANCE!
Thursday, Nov. 1
6:30 - 8:30 PM

REVISED:

In our last newsletter we made a mistake in saying this was an adult only event -- This is a whole family event!

We are so excited to offer our community this opportunity to come together and enjoy a fun evening of music and movement.

Here are some additional details about the event:

Families with young children are welcome to attend with the understanding that parents need to supervise their own children.

Families with younger children should arrive early (6:30) to begin dancing at 6:45pm. The first 45 minute dance set of the evening will include circle dances for all ages and partner dances that younger dancers will be able to do when partnered with an adult.

The second 45 minute set, starting at 7:30, will be for students ages 10+ and adults.

We are very fortunate to have music provided by the experienced folk dance musicians of Atlantic Crossing Band.

The dances will be led by Donna Burgess who has been teaching folk dancing in Waldorf Schools for 25 years.

The eleventh grade will provide beverages and light refreshments during the break.

SEE YOU ALL IN THE EURHYTHMY HALL ON THURSDAY NOVEMBER 1!

They offer Organic Self-Serve Frozen Yogurt, Shakes, Acai Smoothies and Bowls, Salads, Wraps & Breakfast and Lunch Bowls. They also have Raw, Vegan and Gluten Free Options available. Along with some great food you will get a little culture with the Festival of Arts South Gallery that is also located right in their shop. Available in $25s, earning 10%, we welcome Active Culture!

CONGRATULATIONS to the Class of 2022, Miss Andrea's parents, on their scrip earnings for 2011-12! An incredible $3,049 was deposited into their class bank account from The Scrip Store!! We are so happy for your success!

  2. Better: having the scrip order form filled out & payment ready upon entrance to The Scrip Store!
  3. BEST: order online & your order will be ready for you when you arrive at The Scrip Store! (we are getting busier & busier~~wouldn't it be great to have your order ready for you??!).

New Research Confirms Benefits of Waldorf Education
The study, "Educational Experiences in Waldorf Schools", conducted by professors Barz, Liebenwein and Randoll, concluded that the 800 Waldorf students surveyed showed a high rate of joy in learning and support from their teachers, and low rates of stress and health problems such as sleep disturbances and school anxiety.
In the introduction to the study, an OECD expert on the PISA study of academic achievement, states that "social intelligence, emotional security, and a spirit of invention are the decisive dimensions" needed for success in a world that is growing increasingly complex. The students surveyed in this study indicated that these qualities are being fostered in their Waldorf school experience.
Below are links to a report from the Steiner Schools Fellowship in the UK on this research study.
