SCHOOLS GO VISUAL V

Monday 15th to Saturday 27th February

Chard School
Greenfylde C of E First School
Swanmead Community School
Wadham School
Neroche Primary School

This is our fifth consecutive exhibition of the work of young people.  Their creative achievement in art continues to fascinate visitors to the Arts Centre.  In our wonderful space it gives some young people the first experience of seeing their work on display.  For many visitors too, it is one of our most popular exhibitions.

As it covers the half term break it allows the young artists to visit as well as members of their families, friends and teachers.Come and be amazed at the high standard of work at all levels, produced by the students in this part of Somerset.

Music

JAZZ - Kate Daniels Quartet
Friday 12th February at 8.00pm
(pre-show supper at 7:00pm)
THE KATE DANIELS QUARTET
with
Graham Pike, John Horler
 and  Alec Dankworth
'Glamorous Nights - From Hoagy Carmichael to Peggy Lee'

Tickets 15 (28 including pre-show supper) can be booked on 01460 54973

This is a vocal quartet of supreme quality with more than just a hint of the John Dankworth legacy.  Kate's wonderful voice has a distinct similarity to the late Sir John's wife, Cleo Laine. Alec the bassist is of course their son, and is one of the top three or four bass players in the country. John Horler played in all the various Dankworth bands for nearly thirty years, and always features in the UK jazz awards.

Joining them is Graham Pike who plays trumpet, chromatic harmonica, piano and guitar, and is a highly rated, incredibly characterful musician.

The songs and tunes that collectively the group sing and play are well chosen and the overall feeling engendered is soft, warm , lyrical and truly enchanting.
