Tips for Dining with Dogs

More and more restaurants are welcoming well-mannered dogs and their owners with pet-friendly patio dining complete with plenty of water bowls. And, more and more dog owners are bringing their well-behaved pooches out to dine with them especially during this beautiful Spring weather. So, here are a few dining tips to take with you and Fido as you select your dining spot selection:

  • Check out DogFriendly.com for great location ideas
  • Check ahead to be sure Fido is welcome
  • Drain Fido's energy with a vigorous walk before he has to settle down to dinner
  • Bring your poop bag and potty your pup before you enter the restaurant
  • Bring a familiar blanket or pet bed for your pup to relax and stay on that convey his boundaries.
  • Bring water and a high-ticket chew for your pup while on his pet bed that will take him some time to work through and enjoy
  • Be sure Fido is leashed
  • Ask others to ignore your cute furry companion so he doesn't become excited.

Using good doggy etiquette will encourage more restaurant owners to welcome our furry friends and allow us more opportunity to enjoy our pups while out and about.

Now, get out there and show off your dogs great manners!

Cheers!
