UMD Intergenerational Service Project
 
Join us Sunday, July 17th at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall for an Intergenerational Service Project benefiting Urban Ministries of Durham. This event is sponsored by the St. Philip's UMD Collaborative. We will be packaging and labeling bags of rice and powdered milk for the UMD Food Pantry. All ages are welcome and encouraged to participate. There will be a job for everyone! This event will take the place of the Children's Summer Sunday School program and Adult Forum.

Circle of Support Update
 
Our family, transitioning from homelessness, has made extraordinary strides these past six months. They and we are very grateful for the abundant kindness and generosity of the St. Philip's congregation.
We are currently seeking several needed items: a dresser (preferably tall vs. long to accommodate limited floor space), mattress pads for both a    standard crib and full size mattress, and cotton crib sheets.

Summer Formation
 
Sundays 10:00 a.m.
Adult Formation, Library
During the summer months, we encourage discussion-based learning, facilitated by clergy and ministry representatives.
July 17th:Serving the community: an intergenerational activity to support UMD. St. Philippians of all ages are invited to gather at the back of the Parish Hall following the 9:00 service to prepare items for distribution to those in need.
July 24th: Spiritual practices: health - Led by the Rev. Sally French and the Health and Wholeness Ministry.
July 31st:Spiritual practices: rest - Led by the Rev. Jonah Kendall.
August 7th:Spiritual practices: eating - Led by the Rev. Sally French.
August 14th:Spiritual practices: work - Led by the Rev. Sally French.
 
 
Children's Summer Sunday School, Gathering Room
This summer, we will be offering Summer Sunday School for our younger members. Children ages 4-12 are invited to join in a lectionary-based curriculum, crafts, and activities. Our youth are invited and encouraged to assist with the Summer Sunday School. For more information, contact Jared Grant: jared@stphilipsdurham.org.
 
 
Wednesdays 6:30 p.m.
Weekly - Bible Workbench: Each session is led by a member of the group using materials from the Bible Workbench program for a broad and inclusive discussion that is always interesting, informative, and often non-traditional. It's great preparation for the coming Sunday and all are welcome. Meets in the Parlor.

Johnson Service Corps Invitation
 
You're invited to the Johnson Service Corps 2016 Year End Celebration! JSC invites St. Philip's members for an evening of celebration with the 2015-2016 Corps members on Wednesday, July 27th, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Chapel of the Cross (304 E Franklin St, Chapel Hill).  
The corps members will share creatively about what was most meaningful to them this year. We will thank the many people who make JSC possible as well as share a delicious meal together.  Please RSVP to sarah@johnsonservicecorps.org by July 20th.
