Annual Picnic This Sunday, June 5th          Two Worship Services - 8:00 and 10:00 a.m.

Consider bringing foods from your own garden, the farmers' market, or a locally owned business.
Please bring food according to the first initial in your last name:

Building and Grounds Update

The flooding in the parking lot has been remedied by an overhaul of half the pipes length and a new catch basin added.  The 8" pipe which drained the east side of the lot via the "old bus station era" catch basin beside the Community Garden has been rerouted around the maple and crape myrtle trees.  The existing 8" diameter pipe was completely clogged by roots of the trees and had caused the pipe to fail and fill with sediment and debris.

Robert Hallyburton's crew worked to replace the pipe with a 10" diameter Heavy Duty PVC pipe and properly grade the pipe back to a new catch basin and new 24" x 24" frame and grate. The asphalt will be patched around the construction shortly. But it is safe to park in the area and no more flooding.  Kudos to Jonah for making the decision to save the trees and go the longer route around them!

Diocesan Delegate Opportunities

Every year, delegates from every parish in the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina meet to conduct business at the Diocesan Convention. Highlights of the convention are sermons and speeches by the bishop and other   keynotes speakers, food, worship, and fellowship opportunities, and discussions and voting on a wide range of resolutions.
St. Philip's is allowed five delegates. Each serve for a three-year term. We have two vacancies for delegates to be filled for 2016-2018 and two vacancies for alternates. If you have an interest in being considered by the Vestry for this opportunity, please let Sue Guptill, Senior Warden, know (sguptill@mindspring.com). The Vestry will vote for delegates from among those interested at the June meeting.
To be considered as a delegate, a person must be over 16, and a confirmed communicant in good standing.
