Cody Chamber E-Newsletter  -  May 6, 2016

Yellowstone National Park - and the start of our Summer 2016 season!

It serves as a reminder that we are the first impression for so many visitors to Cody.  A simple welcome and a friendly suggestion to enhance their stay can go far in leaving a lasting, positive impact on travelers to our community.  Last year 526,982 visitors entered Yellowstone National Park through the East Entrance.  From a 2015 report by Dean Runyan Associates for the State of Wyoming, travelers spent $391.1 million in Park County in 2014.  WOW!

This year looks to be another record breaking year for visitors to Yellowstone National Park.  The National Park Service is celebrating its Centennial Anniversary and is asking all travelers to please pack their patience when packing for their trip to Yellowstone.  The East Entrance opens today, May 6 at 8am. We're excited and we're ready to greet visitors and help our members as best as we can.  Please don't forget to bring new rack cards for display in the Visitor Center so we can better help travelers spend their time(and dollars) in our great town.  On behalf of the Chamber and  Visitor Center staff we're wishing everyone a fun and successful season!

For further Yellowstone National Park road information visit their official site.

Medical Minute - West Park Hospital.

What types of recreational activities can cause hearing loss?

Anyone who's left a concert with ringing ears knows all too well: Loud music can affect your hearing. But a new study shows that wearing earplugs during a concert can prevent that temporary hearing loss.

This is great news, since hearing loss is on the rise. The U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey found that the number of adolescents with hearing loss has jumped by more than 30 percent since 1988.

Researchers point to recreational noise-like concerts-as part of the problem. The sound at these venues often reaches levels known to cause hearing loss.
