Cody Chamber E-Newsletter  -  February 14, 2014

Exec Bits.

Welcome to the Valentine's Day edition of the Cody Chamber newsletter. It's a good day to say we love Cody and our members and are thankful to be living in and promoting such a great area.

We have a number of Business After Hours/Open Houses on the schedule this spring, including the following:

Tacos El Taconazo: March 6th (GRAND REOPENING at 702 Yellowstone Ave.) at 5 p.m.

Big Horn Radio Network: March 14th, 5-7 p.m. - at The Irma

Mossy Oak Properties/WY Vacation Rentals - April 11th

Wyoming Financial Insurance - May 1st, 5-7 p.m.

If you're interested in hosting a BAH, or partnering with a group of businesses to put one on, there are a number of great benefits.

  • A chance to showcase a new product, service or expansion.

  • The opportunity to say thank you to your customers

  • The opportunity to network with new potential customers

We are looking to fill Business After Hours slots for the June-December timeframe. Contact Liz Stuard at the Chamber to reserve your date today!

Another great networking option is our c2b (Cody Business Breakfast) program. These casual meetings are held the first Friday of each month at a member restaurant. We've recently changed the format so a member can make a short presentation on their business or topic of interest to other members. If you would like to sign up to do a 10-15 minute presentation about your products or services, please contact me.

I am currently enrolled in the Class 10 of Park County Leadership Institute. It's a great program focused on developing new leaders in Cody, Powell and Meeteetse. Each class does a project and this year, our group is partnering with Northwest College to offer a Career Fair on April 17.

You'll be seeing more details on how to be a vendor for this event that will cater to both high school students who are just starting to explore career and work options in the Basin as well as adults looking to expand their work options or career track. If you would like more information please contact me here at the Chamber.

Thanks to all of our renewing members. We appreciate your support!

Yellowstone - Free Entry for Presidents' Day Weekend

Yellowstone National Park is joining all National Park Service (NPS) sites across the nation in waiving admission fees from February 15-17, in observance of the Presidents' Day Weekend federal holiday.

No matter how you choose to enter the park - by car, RV, bus, or on a guided snowmobile or snowcoach trip - admission to the park will be free for three days starting this Saturday.

The NPS is waiving entrance fees on five more days in 2014 as a way to encourage people to get outdoors and enjoy the remarkable landscapes and historical and cultural sites national parks have to offer.

Other fee free dates for 2014 are:

* April 19-20 for the opening weekend of National Park Week

* August 25 for the National Park Service's 98th birthday

* September 27 for National Public Lands Day

* November 11 in honor of Veterans Day

The road from the North Entrance at Gardiner, Montana, through Mammoth Hot Springs on to Cooke City, Montana, outside the park's Northeast Entrance, is open to wheeled vehicle travel all year.   Access to the interior of Yellowstone and iconic locations like Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is restricted to guided snowmobile and snowcoach trips from the North, West, South, and East entrances during the winter months.

At Old Faithful, the Old Faithful Snow Lodge and Cabins and the dining room, the Geyser Grill, the Bear Den Gift Shop and the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center are all open for the winter season.  At Mammoth Hot Springs, the hotel, dining room and gift shop are open for the winter season.  The Yellowstone General Store, medical clinic, campground, post office, and the Visitor Center are open all year.   Fuel is available from 24-hour gasoline pumps all year at both Mammoth Hot Springs and Tower Junction.
