NEW YORK STATE BAKERS TAKE A JOURNEY TO THE RBA ROADSHOW DAY 2
________________________________
In a previous edition we shared our great experience with classes and demonstrations on our first day at the ROADSHOW. Join us now as Day 2 brings us on a guided tour to some of the local bakeries. We start off at CIA's own Apple Pie Bakery Cafe.
When we stepped inside the relaxed and inviting atmosphere, we found award-winning caf, that is student run.
They provide light breakfast, delicious lunch, or mid-afternoon pick-me-up of scrumptious savory dishes, luxurious pastries, and fresh artisan breads.
Next on our tour was Meredith's Country Bakery where we were treated to some of the areas finest breads and biscotti.
Last, but not least, was a tour by the owners of the fine facilities at Deising's Bakery, Cafe, Restaurant, and Catering.
So as we left the beautiful and historic Hudson Valley, we had time to look back and reflect on all that we saw, participated in, and learned in these two event-filled days as part of the RBA ROADSHOW.

SPOTLIGHT ON
Reinwald's Bakery
Reinwald's Bakery is the result of one family's passion for baking.
For 4 generations they have been creating the freshest breads, pastries and desserts on Long lsland -and it is a responsibility they take very seriously. You can taste commitment to their craft in every bite! . Located in the Heart of Huntington, NY, Reinwald's has been a part of the local community for over 24 years and would be considered by the locals as famous. However, now they are famous World Wide as they were recently featured in the Lockhorn comic strip.
Wait a minute! Perhaps it is the Lockhorn comic that is now famous because they used the Reinwald's Bakery.

THE GAG TEST
Anything that makes you gag is spoiled (except for leftovers from what you cooked for yourself last night).
EGGS When something starts pecking its way out of the shell, the egg is probably past its prime.
MEAT
If opening the refrigerator door causes stray animals from a three-block radius to congregate outside your house, the meat is spoiled.
CANNED GOODS Any canned goods that have become the size or shape of a basketball should be disposed of. Carefully.
WINE It should not taste like salad dressing.
POTATOES Fresh potatoes do not have roots, branches, or dense, leafy undergrowth.
GENERAL RULE OF THUMB: Most food cannot be kept longer than the average life span of a hamster. Keep a hamster in your refrigerator to gauge this.
