CITIFIELD GAME
METS VS. ATLANTA BRAVES
August 26th the NYS Bakers attended Citifield Stadium to see the Mets play against the Atlanta Braves. It was a great outing enjoyed by many who brought their families and friends. The weather was perfect, and the Mets did not disappoint us as they won 3 to 2! Here is the scoreboard below:
| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | R | H | E | ATL | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 8 | 0 | NYM | 0 | 1 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | - | 3 | 5 | 0 |
Everyone enjoyed the culinary finery of Citifield from Hot Dogs to Filet Mignon! Kids enjoyed the ice cream in the "Mets" Hats and everyone had a great time! It you haven't joined us for a game yet, you are missing something special. Be sure to join us next year!

The first person to reply with the correct answer will win the opportunity to have their photo or their bakery's photo in the next newsletter, with a short blurb about your business!
This newsletter edition's question is:
WHERE WILL THIS YEAR'S ANNUAL CONVENTION AND INSTALLATION DINNER BE HELD?
The previous edition's question was:
Who Caught "The BIG ONE" on this year's fishing trip?
The answer is:
Mary Stork and Anita Scicolone !
Roseanne & Paul Sapienza
This was correctly answered by Paul Sapienza of Sapienza's Bakery!
At the age of 21 Paul took over his Father's bakery, Sapienza's in Elmont. He later married Roseanne and she managed the bakery while Paul sold their cannoli shells to wholesale accounts. Paul proudly served as President of both the Nassau/Suffolk Association and the NYS Association. Presently he continues to sell to wholesale accounts and he works with the Retail Bakers of America on the National level.
As part of his next chapter in life, Paul has become a licensed life insurance agent and is working with New York Life.
He and Roseanne have two daughters, one son, and five grandchildren.
Thank you for participating Paul!

WESTCHESTER BAKERS ROADTRIPS
FLASHBACK! Last year's 2013 Summer Road trip reached its final destination bakery at Cece Cela Pasticerria at 55 Spring Street. By this time our enthusiastic adventurers were excited by what we had all experienced but a bit tired. Cece Cela was the place to refresh ourselves before we were all homeward bound. We relaxed in their cozy cafe room, enjoying some delicious French pastries, brownies and cool beverages. This quaint shop in the heart of NYC's Nolita neighborhood is known for their wonderful croissants, pain au chocolate, chasusson aux pommes, pain aux raisins and many more classic French breakfast pastries called Viennoiserie.
This year's Summer Road Trip took place in June. The weather was perfect, and our appetites were ready to be satiated by the delectable delights the City's best had to offer! Once again our Association members and friends converged at Financier in Grand Central Station, arriving from New Jersey, Long Island, Somers and Westchester County. As we met we were all excited to begin the day, knowing endless possibilities lay ahead!
We walked to the Plaza where a vast array of culinary choices awaited us. The Plaza Food Hall offers a wide variety of food, from lobster rolls to sushi, gluten free veggie burgers, and sweet eateries such as Billy's Bakery, Francois Payard Patisserie, La Maison du Chocolat, Three Tarts, and many more. Clearly the Plaza Food Hall could have kept us captive for the entire day!
But we knew there was more to see, taste and experience in the great expanse of the City that never sleeps.
Look for tales of our ensuing adventure in the next NYS Bakers newsletter. I'm sure you already wish you'd been with us!
