Rome, if you want to

The month of August has 31 days, possibly because the Roman Emperor Augustus played with the calendar, taking from February so the he could even "his" month with that of his great-uncle and predecessor Julius Caesar's birth month of July. Whether true or not, July and August make up a 2/3rd's of the Summer Triumvirate, and with its arrival, August harkens the end of heat and the onset of Fall. Whether they are the dog days, or the last gasp, now is a time to get out and do, before the weather stops being a positive attribute and starts being a cautionary consideration. I've been struck by the numbers of people in our tasting room using some variation of "Yes, we've been here but not for a few years". Summer vacations are road trips are wonderful traditions, and we are happy to see you again. Welcome back, a Roamin' Holiday indeed.

Indy International

The Indy International Wine Competition begins today at Purdue University in West Lafayette, runs until Thursday, and is one of the big events of our calendar year. We have again submitted wines for judgment, to one of the most scientifically organized competitions in the country, and the Indy draws entries from a number of countries and even more states, making a medal win there well worth the effort. Stay tuned for any updates, likely on Friday the 5th.

This Friday, the Junior Achievement Wine & Beer Fest returns, this time at Parkview Field in downtown Fort Wayne. This a large assembly of wineries and breweries, with your ticket serving as a pass to sample and purchase among a number of established and new business, all in the confines of a pretty cool ballpark. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here.
Art Show

Our second and final Art Show of the year happens the 3rd Saturday of this month, August 20th. Running from 10am to 5pm, our lawn promenade will be the spot where over 30 local artists will exhibit their work, for display and purchase. Many artistic mediums will be represented, all within close proximity to each other, making for a pleasant stroll on the grass. Shig's in Pit will be on hand as well, with barbeque available to purchase, and as always, we'll be doing free wine tasting (with proper ID). The Satek Art Show is family friendly, and free and open to the public.

State Fair

For the 3rd year in a row, Satek Winery will be on exhibition at the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis. We are grateful to be invited again after the 67 year ban on alcohol was lifted a few years ago. Satek wines will be available from Saturday August 13th until Tuesday August 16th, though the Fair will begin on the 5th and end on the 21st, if you need a donut burger in the meantime. It's a great time, and if you haven't gone but can, it's a celebration of things grown, raised or made in this state. For more information on the Fair, you can click here.
     Run N Wine

The Satek Winery Run N Wine, our 5th collaboration with Shape Up Steuben, a 5K walk/run and a 10K run (featuring chip timing) is coming next month, September 3rd (the Labor Day Weekend Saturday). More information can be found here and if you are ready to sign up, an application can be found here. Last year, we debuted Manzana the day of the race, and while we are in the habit of promising little to nothing, we are aiming to have it released on that date.
Rum N Wine, anyone?

If you've been following our new Instagram page, then the above photo is old hat, but if you haven't, we've created a visual window into our world, a front row seat to the #SatekRoadShow, and while we can't promise all the pics will be as dramatic as this Niagara Falls collaboration, we can't promise that they won't. You can climb onboard our virtual bandwagon by clicking here.
