STAY CONNECTED:
Art, Thou?

There are many references to wine as art or artistic, and who are we to argue? It is a demanding exercise, physically fleeting but can attain a long-lasting historical aspect and subject to opinion and subjectivity on quality. Yet there are many other, more obvious and less debatable forms of art, all around and everywhere. People flexing their creativity, whether in private or public, for pride or profit, and in many mediums: painting, sculpture, and photography to name a few. And it is these people, and those that will follow, that Satek Winery has tried to support by hosting an area art show, twice a year for many a year now, in the hopes that our profile will perhaps be an incentive to bring out people who might not be exposed to an singular artist or be less likely to seek out smaller numbers of artists and more likely to do so if larger numbers were gathered. This might seem a medieval pairing, wine and art, but when something works, it works. This works, will work on the 3rd Saturday of June 2016, in August of this year, and hopefully long into the future. Not to paint ourselves into a corner.

Wednesday June the 8th is going to be a pretty special day. In preparation for our 15th Anniversary celebration on July 1st, and all that that entails, we are going to be offering anyone in our tasting room (and only in our tasting room) that day, a free chance to preview a wine a looong time in the making. Look for a more detailed email early next week.

Art Show

The first of our two Art Shows is only two weeks away, and it is shaping up nicely. By last count, well over 20 of our areas local artists and craftsmen will be on our lawn promenade June 18th, from 10am to 5pm, exhibiting their creations for display and purchase. Food will be sale from Fort Wayne BBQ staple Shigs in Pit and local favorite 6 Autumns, and the whole event is free and open to the public. We are proud to offer a platform to the arts, and hope you can attend.
     Run N Wine

The Satek Winery Run N Wine, our 5th collaboration with Shape Up Steuben, a 5K walk/run and a 10K run (featuring chip timing) is full steam ahead for September 3rd, the Labor Day Weekend Saturday. More information can be found here and if you are ready to sign up, an application can be found here. Last year, we debuted Manzana the day of the race, and while we are in the habit of promising little to nothing, we are aiming to have it released on that date. Rum N Wine, anyone?
Write it on the Blackboard

We are going retro, and it feels so good. Via the skills of Mr Tim Wolfe (he of the Grape Vine column), Satek Winery now has our own town crier, a chalk-powered public announce system to hopefully keep everyone (you and us) up to speed. The format is still being worked out, but look for it the next time you visit our tasting room and let us know what you think.

On Monday June 6th, Satek Winery Assistant Wine Maker Kirk Etheridge will display another aspect of his talents, as one half of a musical instrument duet. Etheridge, born and raised in Kendallville, will play percussion, paired with the flute playing of Luke Fitzpatrick. Both musicians are members of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, but the performance will be at the Carnegie Library in Angola, at 630 pm and is free and open to the public.

If you've been following our new Instagram page, then the above photo is old hat, but if you haven't, we've created a visual window into our world, a front row seat to the #SatekRoadShow, and while we can't promise all the pics will be as dramatic as this Niagara Falls collaboration, we can't promise that they won't. You can climb onboard our virtual bandwagon by clicking here.
