Mother's Day Flower Power

If the release of Whisper wasn't enough to make your mother happy, Satek Winery is here for you. On Sunday May 8th, we'll give a free rose to first 125 customers and we'll let you take all the credit if you want to pass them on to a special someone, or if you are that special someone and you knew about who really made that breakfast in bed, though you totally didn't let on.
Spring Spectacular

An event that has become very popular over the past few years is our Spring Spectacular, when we discount selected wines up to 30% off for a 3-day period (May 20 - 22, this year). Those wines won't receive the tradition 5% and 10% quantity discounts, but DO count towards the quantity discounts for non-Spring Spectacular wines. We'll be releasing more information (like which wines have been chosen ) closer to the event itself, so keep an eye out for more information later this month.

Say (wine &) cheese!

After dabbling with Instagram, for personal use and photo editing, we'll take the plunge and have created a Satek Winery Instagram page. If you are interested in following what will hopefully be an interesting and interactive look at our day to day, you can click here.

Last month, someone said I didn't write an article for the news letter because I was busy watching March Madness. In my defense, the only March Madness I got to enjoy was pruning vines from sun up to sun down. I guess there were some similarities, it was March and it drove me "Mad". And yes, I also had February madness and April madness but finally the pruning is complete. In my ten years of growing grapes this was the most intense year of pruning I have had. Still was battling some of the effects of the harsh winters , cutting away excess growth and some dead wood left to restore the health of the vines. On the plus side, it was nice pruning healthy alive vines instead of dead vines. If Mother Nature continues treating us like she has so far this spring, it looks to be a great year for the grapes in this area. The buds are swelling and on some early varieties, there may be two to three inch shoots. So escaping any late frost we are under way.

Summer is just around the corner, school's about to be out and the hustle and bustle of the area will begin. Summer around the 101 lakes area is like Daytona Beach during spring break. It's also a fun time around the winery with all the summer events that take place.

Better stock up on those summer wines and don't forget to get that special bottle for Mom. Let's open that bottle and toast to all the Moms on their special day.
Have a great summer!!
