Numbers Game Splendor in the grass. This is a notable month for us, on at least two fronts: Satek Winery opened in June of 2001 and will celebrate 14 years of operation, starting "officially" Friday June 26th (and running until Sunday July 5th, with our traditional- buy two bottles of wine, get a free, limited edition wine glass) but there is a significant and much less visible as well. The great-grandfather of Pamela Satek (née Kreibaum, like the Bay) purchased the 28 acres on the third basin of Lake James 100 years ago, the land that would become our first vineyard 79 years later. Anniversaries can be funny things (unless you forget them), and why a 14th anniversary might be seen as more important than a 13th or 9th can be debated, even a cynic would likely have to admit that the triple digits of 100 is substantial. The State of Indiana will celebrating a Bicentennial next year, so the numbers are out there, and while compiling them might be work, the rewards will make you glad you digit. |
Run 'n on wine
September 5th of this year will be our 4th collaboration with Shape Up Steuben, the Run N' Wine, a 5K run/walk and a 10K held in the morning, with multiple age/gender group trophies, as well as us debuting a new wine that day. More information will be available soon, but if you are interested, you can pick up an application at the winery, or sign up at runrace.net via this link

Making a Hash# of it
The world of social media can be vast, but one way to find a connection is through the use of hashtags, a self-applied label or categorical phrase that follows a number sign (#) when postings on Twitter, Facebook, and other formats. By doing so, your (or our) post will be grouped with other tagged content, allowing people to search and learn more when seeking it out. Given our history, the nature of our business and our activity throughout Indiana, we have started using a couple of phrases: a variation of a classic, #RhymesWithAttic, and a travelling battle cry wherever we go carrying our banner proudly #SatekRoadShow to increase our cyber "visibility", but we also know that we have no monopoly on creativity, so if you are here in Fremont, or run into us at a pouring or an event, bend our ear and we'll see if we can't have a little fun. |
Satek Art Show Applications
By the time you are reading this, the first of our art shows will be less than 3 weeks away, but if you are interested in being a June vendor, please contact us in the near future at susang@satekwinery.com. The second of the two will take place August 15th, and anyone seeking information can get it at www.satekwinery.com. |
Double Exposure
The Wineries of Indiana's Northeast or (W.I.N.E. Tour) has created a new instagram account, to eliminate some issues posting pictures. Our new account is wine_tourin and can be found, starting here.

Closures and Openings
(Yes, he is that tall)
Satek Winery was very pleased to meet Rüdiger Bleckmann of Korken Gültig, the managing director of our cork supplier, on his swing through the United States on a business trip from Germany. He was generous with his time and information, and happy to meet with wine producers who use his product. He was especially tickled to see our door sign that (unintentionally) highlighted Korken Gültig and took pictures to show his team back across the Atlantic.
