July 2014

Shh...Have you heard?
New wine now available!

We had an amazing opportunity to highlight four local French-American Hybrid grapes with the focus on Vignoles. Our winemaker, Shane, thinks this wine highlights the Northeast Indiana perfectly.

This wine will have a grapefruit peel acidity balance with a soft vanilla finish.  It is subtle yet zippy!

If you haven't tried it yet hurry on out to the winery to taste this newest addition to our family

 Traminette vines

I did it, after 22 years of teaching I finally retired. As of now it just feels like another summer break but reality will set in this fall when school begins and I'm not going back. Someone asked me what I was going to do with all my free time! I had to google "free time" because I didn't know what that meant. I won't have much free time but I will say my time will be spent doing something I love to do with a lot less stress. I have been growing grapes for the past nine years, working at the winery and teaching school. So that's why I'm excited to soon begin working full time at the winery. My duties will include taking care of the vineyard, maintenance, production and tasting room. After that is where my free time comes in managing my 5 acre vineyard at home. I think what I will enjoy most now that I have more time is crush (harvest time) and pruning. Also I look forward to having time to visit all the other growers and combining our efforts so we produce the best grapes possible. My list of things to do will always be long and endless but am going from three lists to just two. So join me and let's sit back for a while and have a glass of wine and watch the grapes grow, you know, with all my free time I'm going to have two glasses.
