June Art Show highlights diversity of regional talent

glasswork

Our June 16th Art Show was a great success, with 30 regional artists exhibiting their works on our lower lawn promenade. Our bi-summer art shows draw visitors from far and near. This free and family-friendly event will be repeated on August 18th. If you missed the first one, be sure to mark your calendars to attend our August show!  Go to our website for more photos and a listing of the artists.  (photos by Corey Verdin/Starlite Photography).

Fun Facts
Ever wonder what the term "split" means on our tasting list next to our Ice Wine or Port?  There are established names for wine bottle sizes, and although Satek Winery currently only produces wine in a "split" (375 ml) and "demi" (750 ml) size, here's a list of many of the larger size bottles that you may not know:
1.5 L.....Magnum
2.25 L.....Marie-Jeanne
3.0 L.....Double Magnum
4.5 L.....Rehoboam
6.0 L.....Imperial or Methuselah
9.0 L.....Salmanazar
12.0 L.....Balthazar
15.0 L.....Nebuchadnezzar
18.0 L.....Melchior
20.0 L.....Solomon
25.0 L.....Sovereign
Greetings!

The eleven years since Satek Winery opened its doors June 30, 2001 seem to have passed in the blink of an eye.  Each year we look back at the growth of the winery and celebrate how far we've come.  This year is no exception.  From the humble beginnings of the first year's release of 12 wines, to the expansion of the building in 2006, the excitement in 2010 of winning Indiana Wine of the Year for our Vidal Blanc Ice Wine, to our current portfolio of 38 wines today, our winery has evolved and grown thanks to loyal patrons who love wine as much as we do!

Anniversary glassAs in years past, our 10-day celebration is highlighted by a gift of a free limited-edition wine glass with each two-bottle wine purchase (no limit, while supplies last). Each year the wine glass design changes, and this year the design is a large 15-ounce stemless glass with the Satek logo (shown left).

This year's Anniversary Celebration-- which starts this Friday, June 29 and continues through Sunday, June 8-- will kick off with the unveiling of a large new entrance sign, crafted of sandblasted redwood with gilded lettering, crafted by TLA Signs of Angola. The design and materials take their cue from the 122-year barn that still stands on our property among the flourishing vineyards as guests drive into the winery. The look is simple yet elegant, also a nod to our distinctive Satek wine label design.

What does the future hold for Satek Winery? The possibility of another expansion is being considered, and wholesale distribution, which started more than two years ago, is a huge area for growth. One thing is for certain: Pam and Larry Satek have cultivated a business with deep roots, and have trellised it to continue to flourish. "It's been 11 years and we've still having fun!" Pam enthuses about their business, which has surpassed anything they had dreamed it could be.
